UWM Decision to Disallow Autumn Hill Academy Opening:

Dear friends,

Unfortunately, I must share the news that Autumn Hill Academy does not plan to open this fall. I can't begin to describe the deep disappointment our team feels right now. Students could have benefited enormously from our welcoming and inclusive culture, well-being programs and learner-centered academics. Our school was ready to go with staffing, programming, facilities and a budget aligned with enrollment numbers, however UW-Milwaukee (our charter authorizer) informed us on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025, that it will not allow us to open due to a student population that is smaller than expected. We provided information showing adequate financial resources and vigorously argued that our school would make a powerful impact if given the chance to open, but to no avail.

We are holding a Town Hall meeting at the school on Sunday, August 10th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm to answer questions and evaluate options.

We appreciate the support we have received along this journey. Many community members have contributed to help create a fully developed school, and we are grateful.

Autumn Hill Academy is scheduled to open Aug. 27. The public charter school is focused on creating an inclusive environment for students.
