We are excited to welcome Penobscot Nation Ambassador Maulian Bryant, Passamaquoddy Representative to the Maine House of Representatives Aaron Dana, Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives Rachel Talbot Ross, and Maine State Senator Rick Bennett as the speakers for the William R. and Linda K. Cotter Discourse and Deliberation Series on October 3.

This incredible line up of Wabanaki tribal and Maine legislative leadership will discuss their work to recognize Wabanaki tribal sovereignty using the legislative process and also how they are building a movement around the issue. We hope you will join us!

With 19 years of personal experience inside the Maine Department of Corrections, Jackson brings a unique perspective to the topic. As the Advocacy Director of the Maine Prisoner Advocacy Coalition, he has overseen the proposing, pushing, and enacting of many pieces of legislation related to prison healthcare. Jackson's insights and experiences will challenge and inspire us to think critically about the role of healthcare in the criminal justice system.

Calling all Colby students! Submit a policy proposal related to access to health care. Policy Proposals Due Wednesday, April 5th. Semi-finalists will present their ideas at the Symposium on Tuesday, April 18th.

First place at the symposium will receive $1,700; second place $1,200, and third $700.

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is a rapidly growing field in the financial, environmental, regulatory and justice sectors, melding issues of public policy and corporate governance.

Please join us for a conversation with Laney Brown'90, Vice President for Sustainability at Avangrid, a global energy company with offices in Portland. Ms. Brown will talk with students about how ESG goals can be good for business, good for people and good for the planet. This will be a great introduction to an evolving issue and a chance to hear about career opportunities in the field.
