I am excited to announce that we have a NEW personnel preparation grant entitled the Mid-Plains Professional Upgrade Partnership in Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Deafness (MPUP-LEAD project! As such, we could use all the help we can get with recruiting talented individuals who are interested in pursuing this specialized training. I kindly ask for your assistance in sharing/posting the information below on your professional/personal listservs, social media platforms, and with any individuals who you think may be interested!

NEW UNL Funding Opportunity for prospective TODs, SLPs, and AuDs!

Faculty in the department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at UNL are currently recruiting for their first cohort of the Mid-Plains Professional Upgrade Partnership in Leadership, Education, Advocacy, and Deafness (MPUP-LEAD) project. MPUP-LEAD is an interprofessional project designed to provide individuals who are interested in pursuing a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), doctoral degree in Audiology, OR a master’s degree and teaching endorsement to become a Teacher of the Deaf (TOD)* with specialized training to work effectively on interprofessional teams and deliver evidence-based instruction and interventions to children who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH). MPUP-LEAD scholars will also receive comprehensive leadership training that prepares them to lead with vision, shape policy, and advocate effectively for children who are DHH and their families.

*Please Note: The Deaf Education program is completely online and only available to students who hold a current teaching license. The Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology programs are in-person/on-campus and only available to students who hold an undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders. All applicants must be accepted to the corresponding graduate degree program at UNL and have a minimum 3.0 GPA to qualify for MPUP-LEAD funding.

We are seeking some dedicated and motivated individuals to take part in this exciting training opportunity! The first MPUP-LEAD cohort is set to begin in Summer 2026. The deadline to apply for this first cohort is January 15, 2026.
