I became a mom of three boys because of one 10-minute phone call.

An hour later, I was handed a little potato with a face and his two older brothers.

They were 2 weeks old, 22 months old, and 6 years old.

I had no toys. No clothes. No diapers. And absolutely no idea what I was doing.

One friend ran home to find any toys her daughter didn’t need anymore. Another came over that night to teach me how to burp a baby because my husband had to work.

And this wasn’t exactly a beginner-friendly baby.

He had reflux, a milk allergy, and would not stop spitting up. Except calling it “spit-up” feels wildly inaccurate. It was full-on, Exorcist-style projectile vomiting. Everything came back up. Constantly.

I had no idea what I was doing, but suddenly, I was a mom.

One minute, it was just my husband and me. The next, we were a family of five trying to figure out a newborn, a toddler, and a six-year-old all at once.

They became my little blondies.

Those first days were chaotic, overwhelming, and held together by people who showed up with toys, baby knowledge, supplies, and whatever else we suddenly needed.

Three years later, all three of my little blondies officially became Robinsons.

That one phone call changed our entire lives.

I didn’t have time to prepare. I didn’t have everything they needed waiting for them. I definitely didn’t know what I was doing.

But we figured it out together.

So, I mentioned finding the common thread in your work yesterday.

Here is mine:

I help women trust themselves enough to move their ideas forward.

That is really what connects everything I do.

With my marketing clients, I help take the idea out of their head and execute it.

With coaching, I help women work through the self-doubt that keeps them from making a decision or taking the next step.

*Validate Your Damn Self* is about learning to stop looking outside of yourself for permission.

When I speak, I want women to leave feeling more confident in who they are and what they are capable of.

Elevate and the other communities I create give women a place to make connections, get support, and actually do something with the ideas they have.

It may look like I do 47 different things. And honestly, some days it feels like I do.

But the reason behind all of it is the same.

I know how easy it is to have a really good idea and then overthink it, talk yourself out of it, or let it sit in a Google Doc for six months.

Sometimes you need help trusting yourself.

Sometimes you need a plan.

Sometimes you need someone to help you execute it.

That is where I come in.

I help women trust themselves enough to move their ideas forward.

Okay, so listen, Linda.

You do not have to choose just one thing.

You are allowed to be multifaceted. Your brand can hold multiple offers, interests, opinions, passions, and big-ass ideas.

BUT...

It is a lot harder to sell anything when you are trying to sell everything at the same time.

People need to understand the common thread connecting your work. They also need to know what matters most right now.

I know. Pot, meet kettle.

Let’s do what I say and not what I do here.

Social media thrives on specificity. That does not mean cramming yourself into one tiny niche and abandoning every other part of who you are. It means giving people one clear doorway into your world.

You can offer marketing services, host events, write books, coach women, share your opinions, and dream up your next five projects.

But you cannot expect your audience to figure out which one they should care about today.

That is your job.

Choose the offer you are actively selling.

Make it clear who it is for.

Talk about the problem it solves.

Repeat yourself more than feels necessary.

Your brand can be expansive. Your marketing still needs focus.

You do not have to choose one thing forever.

You just need to choose what you want people paying attention to right now.

Hi, I’m Devan. There are some new faces around here, so I wanted to reintroduce myself.

For those of you who don’t know me, and those who already do, I have a lot of different titles because why have just one?

But the biggest thing I want to be known for is the vision behind Developing with Devan: creating a world filled with unapologetically successful women.

Everything I do connects back to that vision.

That looks like raising three amazing boys who will grow into amazing men.

It looks like helping businesses get visible and bringing their big ideas to life.

It looks like helping women with their marketing, and sometimes men too because apparently I believe in equal-opportunity success.

It looks like sharing my opinions, even when they’re loud, uncomfortable, or not what everyone wants to hear.

It looks like creating spaces where women can take up space, build confidence, make connections, and move their dreams forward.

It looks like starting a nonprofit so finances are no longer a barrier preventing women from accessing opportunities for personal growth.

My work might take a lot of different forms, but the mission underneath it is always the same.

I want women to trust themselves, show up boldly, make their own damn money, and create success that actually feels like theirs.

So, hi. I’m Devan.
