Fifteen years ago, this moment would have looked very different.
Back then, I'd have been rushing around NYC or Hollywood, chasing the next deal, the next project, the next win.
Instead, I was sitting on the steps of a yoga studio in Val-David, a lakeside town north of Montreal, fully relaxed and fully embodied.
Getting there wasn't simple. The performer I'm developing a new work with couldn't leave the country for our workshop. We had to pivot. We recast to someone I know and love, but the timing was off. We recast again, and this time it was effortless.
Once there, the real surprise wasn't the work. It was the wellness routine I didn't think I'd have room for. Quiet mornings. Walks to rehearsal that fed me mentally, not just physically.
The work itself was hard. There was a lesson in that too, one I learned the hard way.
But sitting on those steps, I realized none of this just happened. It came from years of intentional choices. Decisions that don't look like much in the moment but add up to everything.
This is the season I'm in now. Present. Choosing depth over hustle. Still building, just differently.
If you're in your own pivot right now and wondering what's actually possible on the other side, send me a DM. I'd love to hear where you are.
