This engraving of Crosby High School appeared in the WATERBURY AMERICAN in April 1897.
The school opened on April 20 of that year.
(See the comments for an article about the school’s opening.)
This high school replaced an earlier high school that originally opened in 1851. It was called Waterbury High School.
The high school seen here opened at the corner of Maple Street and East Main Street in 1897. It was at this time that the school was named for Superintendent of Schools Minot Sherman Crosby (1829-1897).
The current Crosby High at 300 Pierpont Road opened in 1974.
