Ms. Burgiss’ Nutrition and Wellness students are diving into the world of macronutrients! This week, they are focusing on proteins and amino acids. Students spent a day creating a “pro-em” (protein poem) or song with the support of a custom MagicSchool.ai chatbot.

With guidance from Dani Driggers, Ms. Burgiss set up an educational, fact-based chatbot designed to help students rhyme, summarize information from classroom materials, and provide feedback on their written verses. The chatbot was intentionally limited so that it could not generate complete poems or songs, nor could it answer off-topic questions.

After sharing their creative work, students voted with their peers to select winners in several categories: Most Creative, Best Rhymer, Catchiest Poem, and Students’ Choice. Enjoy these performances and congrats to our class winners!

The RCHS CTE Culinary teacher and lead chef, Mrs. Melissa Segrest, along with her talented students, recently hosted a small event showcasing the work of the Banquet Specialization and Culinary 1 classes. Students prepared focaccia bread, ham and cheddar grilled cheese with tomato bisque, mozzarella arancini with marinara, lemon tarts, shortbread cookies with orange buttercream, crudité with ranch dressing, and fruit smoothies.

In addition, the culinary students graciously cooked the bacon for the FFA breakfast, generously donated by Adams Custom Slaughter. Mrs. Fincham shared that she “couldn’t be more grateful and proud of the Culinary students under the direction of Mrs. Segrest. They work hard and have learned invaluable life lessons.”
