📚 Back to School Begins with a Story!
As students head back to the classroom soon, there’s no better time to remember how the journey to education began for so many Black children after emancipation.
This Tuskegee-Rosenwald Tuesday, we’re EXCITED 🎉🎉 to re-premiere PART 1️⃣ of our 4️⃣-part animated series,
“Partners in Philanthropy: The Freedmen’s Bureau Schools”
Developed in 2024 through the support of a Virginia Humanities grant, this engaging educational series was created as an extension of the AMMDPGP Partners in Philanthropy©️ curriculum to introduce young people to the remarkable story behind the Tuskegee-Rosenwald Community Schools and the extraordinary partnerships that forever changed the landscape of Black education in the rural South.
🎬 Animation: TJ Green
🎙️ Voiceover: Dorothy Rice
✍🏽Scriptwriters: Muriel Branch, Sonja Branch-Wilson, and Bill Obrochta
The series made its public debut in March 2026 during Dr. Seuss Read Across America Day at Cumberland County Public Schools, VA (Elementary School), where students were completely engaged from beginning to end ‼️
Their curiosity 💭, excitement 😁, and thoughtful 🧠questions proved why this project was created, to make history come alive 🎉🎉🎉 for the younger generation.
