. WorldQuant University instructor T**i Aiyanyo, PhD, is serious about AI and natural language processing (NLP). She is a research professor from Nigeria🇳🇬 who lives and works in Seoul, South Korea.🇰🇷

T**i also has a fun side. Her desk is crowded with dolls and action figures, and she calls herself a cliche “otaku.” This is the Japanese🇯🇵 term for someone obsessed with anime, manga, and related merchandise.

. AI is not your friend. It is a tool to be used with caution. WorldQuant University Curriculum Engineer Greg Ciresi describes the three most common AI mistakes he sees.

👉𝗕𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁𝘀. People can get any answer they want if they skew their queries.

👉 𝗕𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀. People can tell AI to use some sources and ignore others. AI will generally comply, but the results can be unreliable.

👉 𝗟𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Even with objective prompts and sources, AI can hallucinate. Greg says subject matter experts must verify the output, especially in high-stakes scenarios like medicine and law.

Become a subject matter expert yourself. Apply today for our Applied Data Science Lab, Computer Vision Lab, or Deep Learning Fundamentals Lab. Each certificate program is rigorous, free, and online.

This Earth Day, we’re thinking about how data can make a difference.

WorldQuant University learners use data science, computer vision, and deep learning to better understand the world around us. They apply what they learn to real-world challenges:

🌍Analyzing air quality data to spot patterns and risks.
🌍Tracking wildlife through images and video.
🌍Classifying plant seedlings to support smarter agriculture.

These projects are part of a bigger idea: When we can measure something more clearly, we can make better decisions about it.
