Trauma Surgery Interest Group at GUSOM

Trauma Surgery Interest Group at GUSOM We created this page to keep everyone updated on TSIG events and hope everyone will get involved!

The purpose of the Trauma Surgery Interest Group is to provide Georgetown School of Medicine students exposure to the many facets of the trauma surgery subspecialty by facilitating student-faculty interactions, sponsoring workshops and activities which demonstrate critical trauma techniques in both hospital and field settings, presenting opportunities for exposure to the practice of trauma surgery

, aiding in knowledge collection regarding trauma surgery residency programs, and hosting talks to stimulate interest in the field of trauma surgery. This group seeks to encourage more students to take a long-term interest in trauma, critical care and acute care surgery. This group also intends to incorporate the viewpoints of multiple specialists, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, emergency medicine physicians, EMTs and other health care workers -- both civilian and military -- who may provide further guidance to students in pursuit of a career in trauma surgery. There will be opportunity for collaboration with the Level 1 Trauma Centers at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and at Children's National Medical Center, allowing for exposure to adult, geriatric, and pediatric trauma practices.
