My parents split up 10 years ago after my dad had an affair, and he’s still with the same woman, Jane, now. At the beginning our relationship was rocky because I was only 12/13 years old and the whole process of my parents splitting affected me.

These relatives are saying that I’m an adult and Cora is a child so she should come first. I agree with putting children first, and I feel bad for Cora since it isn’t her fault. But I still feel she’s not my responsibility.

It feels like shes too tired before work, work obviously makes us busy (but we both work from home and she seems to find time to do things for herself if she has free time, just not with me), after work is busy kid/family time, then shes washed out from the day and too tired to do anything but watch a show and sleep.

I just sent my mom an email letting her know that I will not being giving her any more money. 'I will not be paying the rent for the new more expensive apartment you want to move in. Not only will I not be paying for that, but I won't be paying your rent for any apartment anymore.'

That's neither here nor there now, but when I was growing up my parents would often use the "I'm/ he's not your father" in temper against me to hurt each other in arguments, or to hurt me in punishment.
