Basics ABA Therapy

Basics ABA Therapy We are committed to providing quality ABA services that focusing on self advocacy and consent and we commit to always be innovative, ethical and excellent.

Treatment Philosophy
At Basics ABA Therapy, we are committed to providing behavior analytic services in a manner that is trauma-formed and kind, by providing training and direct therapy while ensuring we are always innovative, ethical, and excellent. Mission statement
Basics ABA Therapy is committed to providing industry leading behavior analytic services to children with and without dis

abilities while providing training and direct therapy with a focus on trauma-informed care. We wish to challenge traditional models of behavioral therapy and ABA therapy by empowering providers and parents to look at behavior both functionally and kindly. We know Black Lives Matter, Q***r Lives Matter, and Autistic Voices Matter and will also strive to honor those truths. Beliefs
ABA works under the assumption that people engage in behavior due to the consequence of that behavior. Typically, behaviors occur because, in the past, they have been reinforced by escape, attention, access to an object, or a self-stimulatory effect. Traditional ABA may look at those consequences as a way to control behavior, we try to look at those consequences as a way to help the client self advocate and get a need met. Our Core Beliefs
1. We presume competence.
2. Self advocacy skills are imperative for successful adults.
3. Students should be allowed to say no, ask for breaks, and decline touch.
4. Students are the clients.
5. Parents and other therapists are our partners.
6. Data is very important. It is graphed daily and parents have access.
7. Natural Environment Teaching is usually the best way to learn.
8. It is important to listen to Autistic voices.
9. We honor and celebrate neurodivergence

It's ok to say "today sucked" What's important is we try again tomorrow. Some BCBAs will say interventions need to always be perfect to work. While that is ideal, we live in real life. Mistakes will happen, people won't be their best selves, and tomorrow will come and we can do better.

CN: mention of suicidal ideation and self harm *tools to address them

Here are a series of crisis tools we came across while organizing our folders yesterday that we thought people might be interested. We didnt make any of them. The original water marks are included.

ABA isnt used to treat suicidal ideation but some strategies can be used alongside psychiatric treatment. Always get psychiatric support for these behaviors but knowing this information is really helpful- especially calling 988 as a resource

Talk to your kids and tell them not to watch the video of Charlie Kirk being shot.
Their friends will try to show them over the next few days. They can't unsee it.

Tell them
1. If a friend says "Look at this video" ask what it is before looking
2. Avoiding clicking on any videos about him on social media right now- especially with headlines that suggest shocking content
3. If they do see it, let them know they aren't in trouble and can talk to you (tell them that in advance)
