Reflections Mystery School

Through our rituals, Connect DC creates sanctuary where we can reconnect to our deepest selves and to each other. Our rituals draw from the divine wellspring of joy, inspiration, and resistance in the living heart of our city.

At Samhain we remember, mourn, and acknowledge our beloved dead, and to celebrate, welcome, and bless our cherished newborns. We read their name in sacred space to give ourselves time to grieve with the support of community.We read their names in sacred space to ease their transition from one state of life to another and to solidify and ground their placement. We open a portal to facilitate their movement between the worlds.

We gather at 11:30 AM and ritual will start at 12:00 PM with a potluck fellowship to follow. Guests are encouraged but not required to bring a dish to share for fellowship.

From our Founder and Elder Katrina Messenger:

"I had a vision that I wish to share with you: I saw a series of walls all around me on which white writing began to appear. I heard or felt, 'The handwriting is on the wall.' My take was that the future is being written and is now visible to all.

When I shared this vision with my students, one student reminded me of the biblical story of Nebuchadnezzar. The 'writing on the wall' was delivered to his son after he desecrated the sacred vessels of Judah. Daniel translated that text to, 'Your days are numbered. You have been found wanting. Your kingdom will be divided, ' which gives my vision an even more chilling meaning."

Katrina is now back home! She has a bunch of follow-up appointments that we will need to schedule within the next week or so, but she is home!

She is still not up for visits, but you can always text or email her directly to say hi and to give her your love.

Dear Reflections family and Pagan community,

I wanted to let you all know that Katrina Messenger is in intensive care at the hospital. She suffered a severe case of altitude sickness in Colorado, which exacerbated her long COVID problems with her lungs. She received good treatment in Colorado and was able to come home to Washington, DC, but after a couple of days, she was still having trouble breathing and getting oxygen.

I talked to her briefly yesterday afternoon while she was waiting for tests and to be admitted, but I haven't talked to her since—just some texts. I will talk to her later this afternoon, and I will keep you updated as I know more.

Katrina has requested that people do NOT send healing energy. INSTEAD think well of her.

Help Us Send Katrina Messenger to Tara Mandala this Summer

In early July, Katrina plans to attend a training workshop on Chöd at the Tara Mandala community in Colorado. Chöd is a unique blend of the Tibetan Shamanic traditions and the Buddhist tradition of compassion and emptiness. The practice is used to heal communities, land, water, groups, and individuals. It is taught by Lama Tsultrim Allione, who is considered the reincarnation of a renowned 11th-century Tibetan yogini, Machig Labdrön, and she is one of the few women Lamas in the world today.

We are raising funds to cover costs for Katrina and a caregiver, estimated close to $4,000 with the largest portions going to airfare, car rental, and mobility support. Katrina has been given a 50% scholarship for the tuition and will be assigned an accessible room for two without additional costs.

This fundraiser ends June 27. Every donation at any amount helps Katrina undergo this training, which will help our community. Blessings and thank you!

Join Sister Angela Raincatcher on Monday, March 25, in our temple in Washington, DC, for our monthly Full Moon Ritual.

This month’s Full Moon is in Libra, and we’ll do some meditation to explore how we relate to others and some magic to bolster healthy relationships and to heal unhealthy patterns in how we relate to others.

Katrina is the founder of Connect DC and Reflections Mystery School in her hometown of Washington, DC. She has been an activist and community organizer for over 50 years and is the author of the groundbreaking Elemental Psychology: Using Jungian Psychology and the Sacred Elements for Spiritual Development and Descent: A Journey for Women.

Katrina talks about how the language of myth leads us to better understand ourselves and the gods, and how her experiences with Sumerian Inanna (Queen of Heaven and Earth) and Ereshikigal (Queen of the Great Below) led her to the insights on spiritual development and soul growth that are the core of her teachings.
