From our first year with an engineering program until now, our journey has been documented in photos. From when the engineering students worked on an ACHS-life-size trebuchet as class projects...to learning about hydraulic and pneumatic power...to traveling to Pittsburgh and Detroit for National Society of Black Engineers Annual Conventions...to field trips to construction sites and power plants... not to mention in-class robotic or soldering projects... ACHS students are hard at work daily learning, growing and excelling as high school engineering scholars.

Our STEAM Expo was a great deal of fun! The Youth Technology Network and their zSpace demonstration which features 3D, Virtual Reality and Science Education was breathtakingly life-like. We will post videos of the zSpace technology in future posts.

We are gearing up for the Fall. The program will have Trebuchet (catapult) building experiences, field trips, guest speakers and much more all school year long.
This year will begin with the formation of a new Engineering advisory board. Our current Advisory Board members are: Professor Greg Behrmann (CUA) and Professor Jessye Talley (MSU). If you know someone who is a professional Engineer who might be a good fit in a newly forming Advisory Board, please send their name and contact information to [email protected]. Thank you.
In addition to that, this Fall 2018 is our inaugural year of dual enrollment with Catholic University of America (CUA) in Engineering. Our inaugural class contains 4 students who are enrolled in ENGR 106.
Stay tuned for more updates as the school year unfolds.
Financial donations on behalf of the Engineering Program to Archbishop Carroll High School [a 501(c)3 tax deductible organization] are very welcome.

National Society of Black Engineers Convention has been amazing! I have 5 10th graders with me and they have met upwardly mobile young college Engineering students from different ethnic backgrounds who are accomplished young men and women. There were so many companies hiring these young people on the spot during the Career Fair and also colleges and universities who were willing to speak to my young high school students and take the time to really interact with them. We watched a competition and competitions as well. We are having a great time and learning what we will focus on to be prepared to compete in the conference next year! Go !
