This Women’s History Month, The Collective DC proudly celebrates the women who lead, teach, mentor, and advocate in our schools and communities every day.

Across Washington, DC and throughout the Teach For America network, women of color are shaping classrooms, leading organizations, uplifting students, and driving meaningful change. Their leadership, brilliance, and commitment continue to move our communities forward.

We honor the women who paved the way and celebrate the women who continue building a more just and equitable future for the next generation.

Today we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — a leader who believed in the power of community, courageous imagination, and the liberation of future generations through education and justice.

As The Collective DC, we carry that work forward by uplifting and supporting leaders of color shaping our schools, our communities, and our city. We are proud to stand on Dr. King’s shoulders as we invest in the brilliance and promise of our youth.

Dr. King reminded us that “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” It bends faster when we bend it together.

✊🏽 Celebrating Dolores Huerta
A labor leader, civil rights activist, and educator, Dolores Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers and fought tirelessly for workers’ rights, women’s rights, and educational equity. Her courage continues to ignite movements for justice and access today.

🌟 Honoring Ramón Luis Rivera
A visionary Puerto Rican educator and political leader, Rivera was committed to creating equitable access to education and opportunity for all. His leadership transformed schools and inspired generations to lead with purpose and pride in their heritage.
