I help you live in a way that feels connected, aligned and in your own truth. Hi! I'm Alexis. We all have an inner world that needs tending to.

I’m a lover of humanity and a deep believer in the inherent goodness and the light that exists within every single one of us. Each time we find the courage to explore what lives within, we give ourselves the opportunity to come more honestly and more authentically into ourselves and into the world. When we honor our deepest, most human needs, we transform not only ourselves but our collective cons

When using psychedelic medicines in an intentional way, how we approach the journey plays a huge role.

One major difference between using these medicines for recreation versus using them for healing or transformation is that the latter requires our active participation before and after the journey for sustainable change.

Setting intentions helps create an “energetic directive” of what we are committed to changing in our lives.

ON THE HEALING JOURNEY (Part2)

The path of healing isn’t easy. In fact, it’s really hard at times. It’s messy. Because it’s the excavation of what’s making us sick. I sometimes compare the path of healing to throwing up. While you’re throwing up it’s awful and uncomfortable - but you feel so much better afterwards because whatever it was, it was living inside of you. Wouldn’t you rather have it out?

If this path sounds overwhelming, just remember:

It doesn’t happen overnight. Patience, trial & error, and deep self compassion are innate parts of this process.

There is support. While our inner work is our own, we’re not meant to go this path alone. In fact, we can’t. We need teachers, community, satsang, support from those working in the healing space, and more. And all of these things exist, more and more every day.

There is hope. There is more than hope. There is beauty waiting for you on the other side. Waiting there is connection to ourselves. To our joy and creativity. To our bodies. To nature and this planet. To Spirit. What is waiting there is the real YOU.

ON THE HEALING JOURNEY (Part 1)

The world is in need of deep healing. We have gotten ourselves into a really tough place, in only a couple thousand years (and really, in an accelerated way since the start of the industrial revolution). Whereas we used to live in tribes, in harmony with ourselves, with the planet and nature, and in deep connection with Spirit, we have come to a point where there is deep emotional disconnection that is causing the problems of this world: hurting the planet; intense competition with others; greed; never enough-ness; endless material desires; low self worth; deep shame; widespread trauma; sexual, physical & emotional abuse; addiction; disconnection from Spirit (whatever that means to you); and more.

This sounds terrible. And in a way, of course it is. But there is incredible beauty, too. Because this. can. change. And what is on the other side of it is more beautiful and more connected and more fulfilling than perhaps we ever could have imagined. I don’t know exactly what it looks like on the other side of a world revolution - no one does. But I know a world revolution is possible because I know what it means to have a personal revolution - an internal revolution. And I know that a world-wide revolution is not some outer means of “fighting against” or “war on ____” or anything outside of ourselves. A world-wide revolution looks like billions of people having a personal, internal revolution. This is the only way.

This internal revolution comes as we heal ourselves. As we do the work to undo the deep conditioning we have been led to believe our whole lives. As we find the courage to witness, be with, and find compassion for the parts of ourselves that feel so wounded and so scary to face. As we become aware of and begin to dis-identify with the systems, structures, corporations and ways of being that are causing this sickness. As we say, however gently, “This isn’t working. No more.” (Continued in next post)

At 26, I had my dream job, dream relationship and dream life, and yet I found myself anorexic, depressed, and completely lost. I know now that what at the time felt like a breakdown and a falling apart, was really the beginning of the path back home to myself.

On this podcast, I share how I found my way back to true alignment, starting with a deep dive into the ancient practices, and how that’s evolved into working with coaching and psychedelics in my current practice. Links in bio 🧡

Do you trust yourself?

The decisions you make for yourself, big and small? Do you find yourself polling people in your life about what you should do? And then feel a nagging feeling in your gut when their response goes against what feels right?

When I ask clients what they feel most challenged by, one of the most common answers I hear is around self trust and listening to themselves & their intuition.

I hear things like, "I wish I could trust my decisions. I feel like I know what I want to do, but it’s so scary. Plus, my family and friends don’t think it’s the right decision, which makes me doubt myself even more.”

Or, “I want to be able to listen to my intuition. There are so many voices in my head. Sometimes I don't know which one is my intuition - or if I can trust it.”

We live in a society where we're taught from a young age to conform to societal norms that often directly conflict with listening to our own inner knowing. For example, our parents may tell us to finish our food, even when we're no longer hungry. Or, when we're upset about something as children, our parents may tell us not to be afraid, or not to be angry, signaling to us subconsciously that it's not okay to feel the way we feel.

What happens is that, as we grow into adults, we may look for external validation or feedback that the way we're feeling is valid, even when it means denying our personal reality.

For example, we listen to loved ones when they say we should stay in a career or relationship that doesn't feel right to us. Or we constantly find ourselves asking others what they think we should do, in situations big and small.

This conversation isn't about blaming our parents or society at large, but rather about understanding that the little ways we learn not to listen to ourselves so often translate into adulthood, until we become conscious of them and actively practice self trust.

So how do we begin to re-establish trust with the most important relationship in our life: ourselves?

1. Learn to connect with your body

Our bodies are a source of constant feedback and communication, once we know how to listen. In order to do this, we have to slow down, get quiet, drop in and create deeper awareness around the signals our bodies are sending us. This can be done through practices like meditation, yoga nidra, breathwork and mindfulness. (Visit www.alexisallyson.com/free-yoga-nidra to download my free Yoga Nidra Meditation that helps you connect into your body and your intuition, Coming Home to Yourself). By cultivating a relationship with our body, we begin to tune into subtler and subtler instincts, for instance, when something feels like a "yes" or when something feels like a "no."

2. Know that making the most aligned decision doesn't necessarily mean avoiding pain or discomfort

Often, making the best decisions for ourselves will cause discomfort, at least in the short term, especially because we make those decisions within the framework of a society that doesn't always support listening to our own inner knowing. Understanding that pain or discomfort doesn't necessarily mean we made the "wrong" decision can help reassure us that moments of doubt, second-guessing and wanting to return to our comfort zones are completely normal feelings.

3. Start small and learn from experience

Each time we make a decision in alignment with our own inner knowing, however small, we give ourselves evidence that we do in fact know what's best for us. In time, we become more comfortable and assured knowing that we are the only ones who can truly have the answers for ourselves.

And I promise you, that deep down, you do have all of the answers that you need.

What’s your relationship to control? For most of my life, mine was one of trying to control everything around me, to finally realizing that I couldn’t - and oddly enough, the relief that has come from that realization.

Here’s another clip from the Heartfelt Conciousness podcast on control, surrender, and letting life live us.

I don’t think the healing journey is ever really done - at least not completely. But I do know that the work is worth it.

Despite nearly a decade on this path, I still have days that feel hard - sometimes really hard. If I'm honest, there are still days I feel consumed by my thoughts and self-imposed limitations. Sometimes it lasts longer than a day.

There are still times I snap back into old habits, and find myself wondering if I’ll ever fully overcome them.

There are still times that despite meditating, going to therapy, journaling, you name it, I still get caught in thought loops that feel so hard to escape.

But despite all of this, I continue to work on my growth, on my healing.

Because no matter the hard times, I know that doing the work works.

I know it because there’s more space. Where once I believed I was my thoughts, there’s now space. I understand now that no matter how convincing the thoughts can sometimes be, that they’re just past conditioning playing out in my present. And then they soften their grip.

Because there’s more freedom. Even when I feel fear, I know it’s just that: fear. I witness it. I accept its presence. And then I choose to move forward anyway. One. Step. At. A. Time.

Because there’s more self love. Even for the parts of myself that feel too icky to love. ESPECIALLY for the parts of myself that feel too icky to love. Because I know those are the parts of me that are screaming for my acceptance. And so I face them. And I find compassion. And I offer them the love I couldn’t find for them before.

Because there’s more presence. Where once I was “too busy” to slow down for fear of missing a beat, there is now time to literally stop and smell the flowers - no matter how weird the people on the street think I am 😂.

Because there’s more joy. More burst-out laughter. More remembering not to take myself so seriously all the time.

Because there’s more compassion. Less judgment. More love for others, for their Souls - no matter how “their human” is being. I can see past it now. I never could before.

It’s definitely a journey - I won’t pretend that sometimes, no matter how much healing work we do, some days just feel hard.

But I know it’s worth it. Because even with all of its challenges, there is so much more beauty, so much more depth, so much more meeting our Selves.

HOW WE CREATE OUR OWN REALITY

In any given situation or scenario, there are infinite realities that exist. How and what we’re experiencing internally is always shaping our perspective. The beautiful thing about this is that just a moment of awareness can give us the space to change our perspective, and therefore our personal reality.
