May today bring joy🙏🏼

Stop and think through one expectation that’s causing you stress that you can let go of today.

When looking for your next role, remember how much your manager / leader matters!

They can be your biggest cheerleader or your biggest obstacle.

Choose wisely.

Veterans Day and Remembrance Day ⁣🇺🇸🇨🇦🇬🇧

“Never was so much owed by so many to so few.” - Winston Churchill⁣

Wishing all veterans and their families a day where their sacrifice feels honored and they feel supported 💙 as they should feel every day. ⁣

Pictured: Two men I’m most proud of. 🇨🇦 and .heilman 🇺🇸 Whose service to country extends beyond their military service.

Unf*ck Your Brain Podcast Review⁣

Self-described as a “Master Feminist Coach”, Kara brings humor, realness, and clarity to many subjects that are just complicated and often, scary. ⁣

I don’t listen to every episode but there are some heavy hitters you have to check out! ⁣

She brings in amazing experts - many whom are completely out of my normal interest circles - to shed light on the varied topics she covers. I really enjoy this pod since it is outside my normal “leadership influencers” I follow and has continually brought me new perspectives. ⁣

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Radical Candor⁣ by

One of my top recommendations for those interested in leadership development or management! ⁣

Kim Scott is a Silicon Valley executive (Google + Apple) who created a movement around frameworks to manage with empathy and candor. This is NOT a fluffy, the sky is cotton-candy vibe management book. She provides frameworks to help you find that sweet spot between being “ruinously empathic” and “obnoxiously aggressive.” ⁣

We started a book store at our current company to provide any team member a copy of a book we love. This fall, it’ll be Radical Candor as we seek to establish a new performance development system. Managing is really hard! Leadership and culture building is even harder. I think all people leaders will find this book paradigm shifting and incredibly supportive. ⁣

Behavior Scientist’s Summer Reading List 2022⁣

The most loved link from last month’s newsletter. I added at least 5 books to my wish list and I can’t wait to dive in. always has insightful articles but their book lists are always top notch! ⁣

Ones I’m most excited for:⁣
📖 From Strength to Strength by Arthur Brooks⁣
📖 Get it Done: Surprising Lessons from the Science of Motivation by Ayelet Fishbach⁣
📖 How to Stay Smart in a Smart World by Gerd Gigerenzer⁣

Which book do you think looks the most interesting?⁣

Do you plan joy?⁣

I used to plan everything in my life. Now, I feel like sometimes I plan meticulously for everyone else around me and what’s left at the end of the day is me falling into bed - not really knowing how another day has passed. ⁣

With another bub coming in a few weeks, I’m trying desperately to challenge myself that each day is a new opportunity for me to change the narrative and direction. ⁣

Joy for this week:⁣
💃🏼 kitchen dance parties (not toddler ones! Reminding myself I like other music than CocoMelon.)⁣
🧘🏼‍♀️ daily movement (Not allowing myself to sit for 4 hours at a time - but stretch, do lunges/ squats - 5 minutes at a time while on calls/ heart rate up. Get that endorphin spike)⁣
👩🏼‍💻 Executing a kick*** meeting at work ⁣

And most of all…. Letting go of the shame or guilt I tend to build up around feelings of not doing everything perfectly. ⁣

What are you doing this week to bring you joy?

After a month of sickness and moving to the east coast - I’m back on my meal prep train!

Here are the things I’m making this week. Let me know in the comments if you still find these helpful 💪🏼

Article Alert ⁣🚨

Do you remember a few years ago when the 36 Questions to Fall in Love came out and we were all asking those to our SO or our friends? This article flips that on its head and challenges us to ask ourselves some great questions. I like this article as it could serve as a wonderful foundation to set some intentions, boundaries, and center on our values. ⁣

Dive in and let me know what you think!

Do you follow ’s newsletter “Granted”? If you don’t, you’re missing out on so many great articles but also just these tiny nuggets of inspiration. ⁣

“𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩—𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘺𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘳. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘣𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵. 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩.”⁣

Yes it is. Have you been trudging in a valley lately? Feel like you’re in the absolute thick of it? I hope you take a moment and just look at how far you’ve come and know you’ll get to where you need to go one day soon. ✌🏼
