Be the light in a local family’s holiday by participating in Adopt A Family 2012! Adopt A Family is The George Washington University’s annual holiday gift-giving event sponsored by The Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service. Members of the GW community provide families and individuals in need with a three gifts: for adults, one clothing, household, and fun gift must be provided; for childr

en, please provide one clothing, one educational, and one fun gift. Last year, GW sponsored over 615 individuals identified by Community Partners such as Academy of Hope, Big Brothers Big Sisters, CentroNia, the Latin American Youth Center, and the Transitional Housing Corporation. *Please note that adoptions cost $60 per individual. Adoptees are given three gifts each costing about twenty dollars each.

Wow!

Thanksgiving may have been a time for excessive eating and spending but according to data compiled by The Chronicle of Philanthropyit was also a time for giving. According to figures from The Chronicle of Philanthropy there was a 61 percent increase in online donations over Thanksgiving week.
