The Professional Truck Driver Institue (PTDI) Safety Summit brought together CDL training professionals, industry partners, federal representatives, and state education regulators for valuable conversations about the future of commercial driver training and safety.
The Summit provided a deeper understanding of FMCSA’s Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements, compliance and investigative processes, and how state licensing and regulatory agencies fit into the broader oversight system. Equally valuable were the connections made across states, agencies, and industry and the opportunity to better understand how our respective roles intersect.
A consistent theme throughout the Summit was the shared desire to strengthen and grow the CDL profession while improving safety. That means looking beyond minimum requirements and continuing to improve teaching methods, strengthen the quality and consistency of training, and better prepare new drivers for the responsibilities of the profession.
Bringing regulators, educators, federal partners, and industry together around a common goal benefits everyone: quality training, well-prepared professional drivers, and safer roads.

On September 18, 1947, the U.S. Air Force became an independent branch of our Armed Forces. For 79 years, generations of Airmen have answered the call to serve—defending our nation with courage, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the mission.
Today, we honor all who have worn the uniform, those serving today, and the families who stand beside them.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.
We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the heroes who ran toward danger, the families forever changed, and all who answered the call to serve in the years that followed.
Twenty-five years later, we still remember. We still honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🇺🇸 This Labor Day, we honor the people whose work keeps America movingand especially the Veterans who continue serving our communities long after they take off the uniform.
Veterans bring leadership, discipline, resilience, teamwork, and skills developed through experiences few workplaces can replicate. Their transition from military service into meaningful civilian careers strengthens our businesses, industries, and communities.
Service doesn’t end with the uniform. For many Veterans, it simply takes a new form.

Thank you to our Veterans and to every worker whose dedication, skill, and hard work help build a stronger workforce and a stronger America.

Three awards will be presented at the NAVPA Conference in Dallas, Texas, this October to honor the outstanding contributions of some of our NAVPA members. Nominate someone you know today!

All nominations must be submitted by EOD on September 6 to be eligible for consideration.

Nominees must be current NAVPA members and be nominated by a current NAVPA member. Award recipients are selected by the NAVPA Awards Committee.
