Dear Friends -

This video emerged last week showcasing the heartbreaking, empty, and abandoned Spingarn High School in Ward 5. This historic school -- left by the DC government to rot, vandalism, and an effigy hanging by a noose! -- has been disrespected and discarded.

This is wrong! Public charter schools have the capacity and spirit of community service to revitalize this long-closed community asset with an excellent school and the much-needed Library and Community Center which the Alumni and other community organizations are petitioning for. Mayor Bowser and Deputy Mayor for Education Paul Kihn, should immediately put this school up for bid.

Call our Deputy Mayor today and let him know that DC should honor the legacy of Spingarn School and provide quality school seats for the thousands of students on waiting lists yearning for the opportunity for a world class education at charter schools.
