Today, we proudly celebrate 97 years of sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, business, and service.

Since 1929, our visionary Founder, Mrs. Lola Mercedes Parker, laid a foundation that continues to inspire generations of women to lead with excellence and make a lasting impact in their communities.

As we honor our rich legacy, we also celebrate the countless Sorors who have carried our mission forward through dedication, courage, friendship, integrity, and service.

May we continue to build upon the dreams of our founder while embracing the opportunities of the future.

THE LEGACY CONTINUES

On April 25, 2026, Gamma Chapter hosted a Spring Informational event to share the rich history of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., and the legacy of Gamma Chapter in the Washington, D.C. community. The presentation included founding and chartering information, mission, national projects and programs, and fast facts about Gamma Chapter. The event also provided the opportunity to meet, connect, and network with our chapter members and learn more about the work that we do.

The most empowering and stimulating portion of the event was a panel and QA session with our National Financial Secretary Vonetta B. Martin, National Treasurer Nicole George, and Eastern Regional Treasurer Lakeshia Hurling, moderated by Gamma Chapter’s Membership Chair and Dean of Intake Jaellyn Brady-Dennis. Sorors shared insights on how Iota Phi Lambda develops its members professionally and personally, their most meaningful and rewarding experiences, and the vision for Gamma’s impact in the community and within our own membership.

💚🤍 Leveling Up Our Leadership & Ex*****on 🤍💚

In recognition of Business Month, Gamma Chapter engaged in a comprehensive Project Management training led by our very own Gamma Chapter Member and Past National Officer Adrienne R. Sutton, designed to strengthen how we plan, execute, and deliver impactful programs across our committees.

We explored the five phases of project management—Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing—while reinforcing that every project must have a clear beginning, defined goals, and measurable outcomes.

✨ Leveraging Slack tools (canvases, trackers, and workflows) to manage projects in one centralized space
✨ Strengthening cross-functional collaboration—especially with PR & Marketing for seamless communications
✨ Emphasizing documentation, templates, and archiving to build a strong foundation for future leaders
✨ Integrating risk management, status reporting, and decision tracking into our processes

This Business Month initiative reflects our commitment to professional development, operational excellence, and sustainable impact within our chapter and the communities we serve.

Gamma Chapter Celebrates Legacy & Sisterhood

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Sorors of Gamma Chapter gathered at Urban Roast for a Charter Day luncheon, just days before the chapter’s anniversary on April 28, 1931—marking 95 years of service, sisterhood, and commitment.

Twenty Sorors came together in a warm and reflective atmosphere to honor the chapter’s chartering members and celebrate the traditions that continue to shape Gamma Chapter. A highlight of the gathering was each Soror sharing her personal commitment for the upcoming sorority year, reinforcing the strength and purpose of the sisterhood.

As the luncheon concluded, Sorors departed with renewed connection and dedication. In anticipation of Charter Day, the celebration honored a proud 95-year legacy while looking ahead to a future rooted in unity and continued service in DC Proper.

Gamma Chapter has been extra busy this Business Month.

Gamma Chapter was proud to host our Business Month Community Service opportunity in partnership with Delta Phi Chapter on Saturday, April 18th, with Suited for Change. It was an impactful day of service and collaboration!

Suited for Change continues to empower women across the DC area by providing professional attire, career coaching, and essential support to help them thrive in the workplace. This initiative reflected our commitment to professional development and uplifting our community.
