Congrats to Jimena Rodriguez-Gamez and Santiago Fuentes who have both been accepted into the UC Berkeley Public Health, MPH Environmental Health Sciences program! Both Jimena and Santiago joined us last summer as part of the Occupational Health Internship Program (OHIP). OHIP interns learn about the field of occupational safety and health from those with most at stake: working people. Jimena and Santiago partnered with Laborers’ International Union, Local 67 and the , among others, and their achievements remind us how critical this program is to building the pipeline of leaders in occupational health & safety that we need in this moment. 🎉

Wrapping Up OHIP Summer 2025

Today marks the conclusion of the Occupational Health Internship Program’s 2025 summer cohort, and what a summer it has been!
Over the past 9 weeks, our interns partnered with unions, worker centers, and community organizations throughout the United States to address real-world occupational health and safety challenges. They’ve conducted field research, developed actionable recommendations, and demonstrated remarkable professionalism, curiosity, creativity, and dedication to advancing workers' health and safety.

This work wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment of our funders, site coordinators, mentors, worksites, and partners, whose guidance and collaboration shaped every step of the journey.
👏 Let’s give a round of applause to the 2025 OHIP interns for their hard work, growth, and impact. We can’t wait to see the contributions they’ll continue to make in the field of public health!
