The irony of implementing policies targeting specific groups in an attempt to disadvantage them is that, often times the knock-down consequences of such actions always end up affecting all of us.

You may say it doesn’t concern you but it eventually will. Those who voted to spite other groups are themselves now living in penury. Because in their folly, they had assumed that they would be exempt.

But as Michelle Obama said, “eventually that ugliness will touch us all.”

We have an opportunity to course correct… will we do it right this time?
