This past weekend, our very own board member, Betsy Fenzel hosted a reading of her beautiful book, Heart of Gold, at Bethesda-based Wonderland Books 📚✨

Heart of Gold is a children's book featuring a conversation between a mother and her daughter about the essential goodness in all of us.

We loved watching Betsy share her story with the community. And we're incredibly grateful for her leadership and generosity by offering her book for free to attendees who made donations to Horizons Greater Washington. 💚

Earlier this month, St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School hosted a cake raffle, with ticket sales benefiting Horizons Greater Washington. There’s something pretty special about a school community turning homemade (or home-decorated!) cakes into something bigger than dessert.

Now Hiring Volunteers for Summer Academy! ✨
Volunteers play a key role in the success of the program by helping it run smoothly and creating a positive, safe, and inclusive environment for students. 🧡

Summer Academy will run from June 29 - July 31. We're seeking volunteers who are 15 years and older, and who can commit to at least two weeks of service (four weeks at the most).

After the holidays, our Saturdays are filled with glue sticks, big ideas, and lots of creativity. 🎨

This month, we kicked off the winter term of Saturday Academy, where students keep building academic skills while growing their confidence, curiosity, and connection with the same Horizons community they know and love from summer.

Through hands-on projects and targeted subject-based support, the winter term helps students ease back into learning together after the long break. Saturdays are for imagination, growth, and community.
