Regulating your nervous system is a non negotiable part of caretaking and nurturing your wellbeing. Currently I’m focusing on slowing down. I have always been in a rush but that’s been to my detriment when I’m doing so but don’t need to be rushing.

Now I disrupt that pattern by gently reminding myself I don’t need to be in a hurry unnecessarily.

Is slowing down on your wellbeing awareness radar?

Freedom. Liberation. Joy. Telling your life story embodies all 3 and it’s incredibly beneficial to your overall wellbeing regime.

When you look back over your life you have an opportunity to honor the lessons you’ve learned and the meaningful contributions you’ve made.

This year I encourage you to pick a pathway to tell your life story.

Possible pathways: tell a friend, tell your children, host a family storytelling gathering, be a podcast guest, write an article focused on a lesson or contribution you’ve made, write a book, tell your students if you teach, tell it in a social media post and lastly tell it to yourself an lean into it because there’s great value in your story.

Never forget that your story is a wellbeing blessing to the world!

It’s perfectly okay to sit down somewhere when that’s best for you but seems inconvenient to others.

In AAVE “sit down somewhere” can have multiple meanings depending on if you are directing it towards yourself or if someone is directing it towards you. I myself have been on the receiving end of both situations. 😂

When I’m directing it to myself it’s typically because I’ve once again pushed myself into hyperdrive and I’m headed to burn out, thus I need to “sit down somewhere” or take a break and rest or even do something playful.

If someone is lovingly directing the statement towards me, it usually means I’m so deep in my blind spot I can’t see that I’m running myself ragged and a crash is imminent or the crash has happened and I still don’t see it. There’s a similar expectation here…I should rest and shift from doing more to doing less and take my time and even go do something playful. 🌟

When have you lovingly reprimanded yourself to “sit down somewhere” and it was the best advice you could r given yourself?
