On July 4, 2001, the Massillon Tiger Swing Band under the direction of Kristy Shaffer-May, marched down Constitution Avenue in Washington DC at the National Independence Day Parade. The band’s photo with the “cold air” tiger balloon made the front page of a Washington newspaper the following day. (Note: on the far right is Mr Chris Nussbaum who is still serving as the band’s assistant) 🇺🇸

Does anyone know of a back story to this piece? It is inscribed with “S. Taylor ‘76” under the one foot. It is a very well done ceramic piece that is about 12” in length.
It is not for sale.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! This is the 1977-78 Tiger Swing Band marching in the May 1978 Indianapolis Memorial 500 Parade. Jim Billingsley, Director, with Shirlee McCauley, Pam Wolf and Ric Tissot, Assistant Directors. (Future Swing Band director Chris Smith is a Junior trombone player in this edition of the MTSB)
