Ahead of our conference, we had the honour of visiting the Embassy of Belgium in Washington, D.C. and meeting with a Belgian diplomat. 🇧🇪
This exchange gave us a deeper understanding of the internal functioning of Belgium’s diplomatic and political system beyond theory, beyond textbooks. Hearing about the realities of coordination, negotiation, and representation from someone working at the heart of it all was both insightful and inspiring.
Moments like these remind us that diplomacy is not only about policies and statements, but about people, responsibility, and commitment.
We are sincerely grateful for her time, her attention, and the generosity with which she shared her experience with us. An invaluable opportunity ahead of our conference.

From 12–15 February, the Belgian delegation of Université libre de Bruxelles had the honor of participating in the 41st International Model NATO in Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸
Over the course of three intensive days, our delegates engaged in high-level negotiations, strategic debates, and policy drafting sessions, simulating the complex decision-making processes of the North Atlantic Alliance. Representing Belgium, they worked alongside students from around the world to address pressing security challenges, navigate diverging national interests, and build consensus through diplomacy.
Beyond the formal sessions, the experience offered invaluable insight into multilateral cooperation, transatlantic relations, and the realities of collective security. It was not only an academic exercise, but a true immersion into the dynamics of international policymaking.
This conference provided our delegates with the opportunity to refine their analytical skills, strengthen their public speaking abilities, and embody the role of diplomats in a fast-paced and demanding environment. An unforgettable experience and a proud moment for the ULB NATO Club.
