EDGE's Senior Director for Global Learning, Jim Bennett will be speaking today for the Global High School Summit hosted by PrepaTec and Tecnológico de Monterrey.

He will be highlighting experiences from our Global Connections program as part of an expert panel discussing "Global citizenship competencies development through virtual exchange."

As one of our partner school facilitators recently said, his students have realized the generalizations and preconceived notions we have are likely to lead us into false assumptions about people. Through the virtual exchange program, students have developed the capacity to listen and see how people in other cultures also share similar hopes, dreams, experiences, and aspirations.

On World Teacher Day we are celebrating once again the incredible work of teachers across the globe who are championing education for their students even amidst incredible hardships and challenges. As the UNESCO theme describes it: Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future

Providing resources and equipping teachers is at the core of EDGE’s mission.

We’re grateful for so many opportunities we’ve had to support teachers in their work. We have a major pivot coming to expand the reach of these programs in new ways, into many new places. Stay tuned!

EDGE, SBSO Announce Application for Global Connections 2020

US-based Education for Global Engagement (EDGE) Institute and Gambia-based Side by Side Organisation are excited to announce an innovative online program, dubbed, Global Connections 2020.

This 15-week program, targeting Gambian high school and university/college students, will run from October 12, 2020 - January 31, 2021. It is open to any students who are able to commit to the expectations of the course, have a device capable of completing the work (tablet, smartphone or computer), and commit to the Community Guidelines. Participants will be exposed to three main program elements - Virtual Exchange Partners Program, Digital Museum of World Culture, and EDGE Academy.

As part of the EDGE Academy, participants will be exposed to five key course modules – Principles of Leadership, Creative Problem Solving, Creative English, Academic Success, and Topics of Science and Culture. We have some exciting things coming on a bunch of fronts and this is a glimpse in the Digital Museum of World Culture that will be unveiled soon. In the meantime, here’s a glimpse into meals through the eyes of youth from from South Korea.

Today is International Literacy Day! Reading unlocks all sorts of worlds, inspires creativity, and reminds us of what is important.

Promoting education for learners of all ages has never been more important. This is the work that exists to do.

With September usually school is back into full swing. This year for many students that means "remote learning" with all the challenges that come with it. Yet, for some 500 million students that is not a real option.

New connections and approaches will be needed to help ensure that learning can still continue.

A fantastic way to conclude this professional development program for 25 teachers from across the Gambia. We're thankful for the opportunity to join with by Side Organisation to complete this program.
