Show Up, Stand Out is a free program from the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants to help get children to school every day.
We work with you to find out what you need to make sure your kids attend school regularly. We work with families one-on-one to find out what they need to make sure their kids attend school regularly—a critical first step for a good education and success later in life.

Meet the Show Up, Stand Out (SUSO) Program superstar of the week Ms. Kim M. Bookard, a native Washingtonian and proud Ward 8 resident! She received her primary education in the District’s parochial school system and graduated from Frank W. Ballou Senior High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of the District of Columbia. In the fall of 2001, she entered a dual graduate degree program receiving a Master’s of Social Work degree from Howard University in May 2004, and Masters of Divinity from Palmer Theological Seminary in May 2006. She is also a William K. Kellogg Foundation Community Leadership Network Fellow.
Since April 2014, she has served as Program Manager for the School-Based Division at the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative. Kim volunteers countless hours mentoring, advising, and empowering young people in an effort to improve life outcomes for themselves and their families.

Afterschool Programs | dcps In School Year 2019-2020, afterschool programs managed by the Out of School Time Programs (OSTP) will be offered in 54 schools. Schools not participating in OSTP afterschool programs may offer their own programs to students. Please contact your student’s school for more information.
