Takin’ a break in the DR!
An upper level job position does NOT mean you are a leader🙅♀️
Many people may believe that having a high-level job title automatically makes you a leader, but unfortunately, that’s not true. A leader, regardless of their position, is defined by a multitude of empowering characteristics!
Don’t let a performance review catch you off guard! Here’s what you can do before, during, and after the process to make sure you are set up for success ✔️
Want to manage up? Start by managing yourself!✅
Know your strengths and weaknesses. Assess your workplace triggers. Learn how to react under stress.
Once you’ve understood yourself and gained some self-awareness, then you can focus on the relationship you have with your boss.
You want a good relationship with your boss, but maybe not a “friendship” with them 😬
Being friendly is good! Being your boss’s BFF? Not so much…
Setting a healthy boundary keeps your relationship professional, balanced, and built on respect, not favoritism.
No boss likes surprises, especially the bad kind 😬
When in doubt, keep your boss informed! Communicate things early, share updates, and don’t be afraid to speak up when something goes wrong. While it may be hard to admit fault, you’ll truly be saving yourself if you speak up about something…instead of surprising your boss with bad news❌
When your boss delegates a project to you, that is your chance to prove they can actually COUNT on you!
Follow through on the project, communicate updates or delays, and deliver strong results to really prove that you do “got it.”
We all make mistakes, but how that mistake is handled makes all the difference! 👍🏻
When you take responsibility for something you did wrong, it speaks loudly about how mature you are. It also shows accountability, and proves to your boss that you can be trusted…even when something goes awry.

The foundation of managing your starts with trust, and to build trust, you HAVE to do what you say you’ll do!
When you follow up on your commitments, you are proving to your boss that you can be dependable and trustworthy💪
You can enjoy your wine at happy hour, but please do NOT bring your whining to work! 🙏
We’ve all had frustrating moments in the workplace, but it will truly hurt your reputation when you complain excessively. Your boss will likely start to see you as a negative individual, and that’s a huge no-go!🚫
