Former President of Washington D.C. Okinawa Association, Mrs. Mieko Maeshiro, visited GW Okinawa Collection on August 25. She kindly donated an important collection of materials on Ryukyuan cultures, language, and society including hard-to-find post-war memoirs and public health analysis on post-war Okinawa. Thank you very much, Mrs. Maeshiro!

GWU grad students: The GRC is now available to graduate students for 24/7 study. We'll remain open to all during staffed hours; then graduate students will be able to access the space (and the computer workstations) via GWorld tap access.

The second libguide is devoted to one of the most pressing geopolitical issues of our time: terrorism, particularly in the Middle East and Eurasia. The GRC has just published two new libguides, one on Central Asia and one on international terrorism. The first libguide focuses on Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, and provides both an overarching perspective on the complex region and a concentrated view of the political systems and social development in individual countries.
