As in many cultures, it is cultural taboo to mention the word “death” or “die” directly in Chinese. Through generations, Chinese people used different phrases to refer to “death” or “die”. For example, to substitue the word of "death", one can use, "不在了" (not here), "走了" (departed), or "回老家" (return to where one's from). Can you list some other examples??
If you could, please try to pronounce "我也很好 " (wo ye hen hao). Share with us the tone of each of these words, and how you will actually pronounce them! (It may not be as easy as you have thought... :p)
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. It is the second most important traditional Chinese festival. It is an occasion for family members to get together over mooncakes, fruits and fine tea and have "moon appreciation" (shăng yùe赏月) sessions. With its association with mooncakes and lanterns, the Festival is also called Mooncake Festival or Lantern Festival.
中秋节快乐! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!
