The M7 MBA selectivity has not been getting worse. In this cycle, the seven schools collectively admitted 2.7% more students and enrolled 1.8% more than the year before. Getting into an M7 program is still hard, but the trend line this year moved the opposite way from what people assume. This is useful for anyone talking themselves out of applying because “it’s basically impossible now.”

That aggregate trend is a good reason to actually apply. This is not a substitute for knowing your real odds at each of the seven schools specifically, given your background, GMAT, and target industry, or for understanding what admission actually costs and pays back once you’re in.

That’s exactly what our 2026 M7 MBA Guide breaks down, school by school. And it’s free. Link in bio.

The average M7 MBA now costs more than $270,000 across the full two years, tuition, housing, and fees combined, according to the newest 2026 data from all seven schools. That number keeps climbing, up over 3% from last year alone.

Two schools charging almost the same tuition can leave you in very different financial positions once scholarships, city cost of living, and how fast the salary bump actually pays it back come into play.

That’s the exact gap our 2026 M7 MBA Guide fills, real cost and true ROI broken down school by school, not just the averages everyone quotes. If you’re deciding whether an M7 MBA is worth it for you, this is the number that actually matters.

A record 17% of this year’s Harvard MBA class said they are skipping the traditional job hunt to build their own company instead. That number was 8% in 2021 and 13% just last year. Across the whole class, 35% didn’t pursue a corporate job at all, the highest share HBS has ever reported.

It says something about why people go for an MBA now. The degree is turning into a launchpad for building something of your own, not just a route into consulting or finance.

If you’re weighing an M7 MBA and want the full picture beyond one stat, cost, ROI, and career outcomes across all seven schools, our 2026 M7 MBA Guide breaks it all down. Link in bio.
