The 2026 Earth System Observations and Modeling Graduate Symposium was a great success! Held on April 10, the symposium brought together graduate students, faculty, and researchers for a full day of oral presentations, posters, keynote talks, and a career panel focused on integrating traditional and novel approaches to Earth system science.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this year’s symposium such an engaging and memorable event!

the university to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions
and climate impact as quickly as feasible by focusing
on electricity and fossil fuel use across all of Mason's

The CAP development is an initiative led by a
partnership between and the Mason
Sustainability Council's Carbon Neutrality Task Force.
The Task Force is working closely with Dumont
Janks, who worked with Mason on the most recent
Master Plan, and Arup, a global technical advisory firm,
to develop a new CAP.
Phase 1 of the CAP will be delivered to President
Gregory Washington prior to Mason's 50th Anniversary
in April 2022.
V Phase 2, which will begin in April 2022, will examine
greenhouse gas emissions from travel and commuting,
purchasing, food, and other sources.
