๐พ Have you ever hit a successful tweener in a match?
I have ๐
It was SMAC regionals my senior year, and I was crushing my opponent... up 4-1 in the second set after a 6-0 first set win!
I was pumped! I was coming to the net on a short ball and crushed a forehand to his backhand! He reached out far and landed a perfect topspin lob!
I turned over my left shoulder and bolted towards the back fence!
I knew I wasn't going to to be able to run around the ball, so I made a hasty decision... I went for the tweener!
I still remember to this day hearing the gasps of the people watching the match... it was a magical moment for my tennis career...
Sadly, he came to the net and when I actually hit the tweener (I hit it powerfully though ๐) he was able to volley the shot away from me. If only I had angled it slightly farther to the side he wasn't favoring (he was favoring his backhand crosscourt side)
What's your favorite tennis moment? ๐พ
Roger Federer
- After a successful winter outdoor lesson (yes it is possible!) I took some time to think about what constitutes a โsuccessfulโ lesson.
- The best way to show true progress is not just in the physical, but also in the explanation of the mental side of your game.
- If you canโt explain your thought process behind what you achieved throughout your lesson, then your mind wasnโt where it should have been when we were executing drills.
- Today Josh explained his thought process on how we actually achieved progress on his groundstrokes; not only where his weakness was, but how we worked on correcting the faults.
- This showed me his mind was where it needed to be, on where the fault lies within his stroke. And that shows progress within his goal to becoming a stronger tactical player!
Thanks for a great lesson Josh!
Keep Practicing!
And see you all on the courts!
