New shops appeared, old walls cracked, familiar faces disappeared. Karim hated change. He believed stability was strength, and routine was safety.
Years ago, he had refused a scholarship that could have taken him abroad. He ignored job offers that demanded risk. He stayed exactly where he was, convinced that avoiding change meant controlling life. But life, unimpressed by his logic, kept moving.
One winter morning, the factory where Karim worked shut down without warning. The machines stopped. The gates locked. His routine vanished in a single announcement pinned to a rusted board. Panic followed him home like a shadow. For the first time, he had no plan.
Days passed. Then weeks. With nothing left to protect, Karim finally tried. He learned new skills, applied for unfamiliar work, spoke to strangers without fear of embarrassment. Slowly, opportunities appeared. Not because the world became kinder, but because Karim stopped hiding.
