Join us in Florida with the Association for the Study of African American Life and History to share knowledge “of educational value” about African Americans, knowledge that some people, in their ignorance, deny and disparage.

I will show my documentary about ways in which Africans avoided enslavement and African Diasporans east and west of the continent rebelled against, and escaped from slavery to create free communities. I will also present my book, "African Roots/African Cultures: Africa in the Creation of the Americas," as part of the author’s book signing.

I had the pleasure of moderating a discussion between W. Kamau Bell of United Shades of America about the episode, Black to the Future, about African Americans in STEM, and Dr. Ayana Omilade Flewellen and Charles Todd about the film, Lessons from the Water: Diving with a Purpose that he produced and in which she is the scholarly talent. Diving with a Purpose is a predominantly African American organization focusing on the underwater archeology of wrecks of ships bringing enslaved Africans to the Americas.
