With so many college decisions rolling in, please remember to love the schools that love you back. When you receive an acceptance, take the time to truly dive into research mode. Explore programs, connect with current students, and attend Admitted Student Days. Those schools are excited about you, and that matters.

If you’ve been deferred, remember that a defer is not a no, but it also shouldn’t be counted on turning into a yes. Submit a thoughtful Letter of Continued Interest (complete the specific form if offered), share any meaningful updates and your fall grades, and then let it be just one of several possible outcomes. If it turns into an acceptance later, that’s a wonderful additional option to consider.

Most importantly, stay positive and keep your focus on the schools that want you. This process truly does work out in the end, and you will land exactly where you’re meant to be. Trust the journey!

Friendly Reminders to Seniors:

👉 If you were accepted Early Decision, please remember that ED is a binding agreement. This means you must withdraw all applications from the other colleges you applied to. Doing this promptly frees up a spot for another student who may be deferred, waiting in EA/RD, or hoping for movement on a waitlist.

👉 If you did NOT apply ED, the same courtesy applies once you make your final choice! As soon as you know where you’ll be attending, please notify the other colleges that you will not be enrolling. This simple step truly matters and opens the door for someone else who is anxiously awaiting an opportunity.

Remember, every withdrawal helps another applicant.

As admission decisions begin to roll out, we want to offer a little guidance and a lot of encouragement. This season brings a mix of emotions, and it’s important to handle it with positivity, perspective, and kindness.

✅ If you’re accepted…
Celebrate! You worked hard and deserve to feel proud. At the same time, remember that not everyone received the news they hoped for. Be mindful, be gracious, and avoid boasting. Your friends may still be waiting or processing disappointment.

⏸️ If you’re deferred…
A deferral is not a no. Colleges want more time to take a deeper look at you. This means they will review your GPA, course rigor, test scores, essays, leadership, extracurriculars, volunteering, jobs, and more during the regular decision round.
Most schools also want to see first-semester grades, so finish strong! Your transcript remains the most important part of your application.
Deferred students should continue building momentum. New leadership roles, jobs, activities, and accomplishments still matter. Don’t give up!

❌ If you’re denied…
Take a breath, then move forward. A denial does not define your worth or your future. Our motto remains:
❤️ Love the schools that love you back.
The right fit will reveal itself.

A final reminder:
College admissions are tough, and decision season can be even tougher. Stay positive, keep perspective, and trust that things work out exactly as they should.

November 1st is behind us, and that means all Early Action applications are officially submitted!

Seniors: Just because you’ve hit “submit” doesn’t mean you’re done quite yet. Make sure to check off these important next steps.

Check all application portals — Every school should show “Complete” and “Under Review.”
• If a letter of recommendation is missing, follow up
• If school documents are missing, contact your school counselor

If a college uses STARS to report grades, be sure it’s linked and showing complete.

Self-report any additional materials — Test scores, resumes, or other documents if required.

Look for extra applications. Many schools have Honors College or Scholarship applications with separate deadlines. Don’t miss them! Stay on top of your email, and read every message from the colleges you applied to.

Watch for housing info. If you can register for housing before being accepted, do it as soon as possible!

Now that your Common App submissions are in, your individual college portals are more important than ever. This is where you’ll see your admission decisions, and sometimes new essays or forms if you’re deferred or waitlisted.

Stay organized. Stay positive. And stay hopeful. We’re crossing our fingers for lots of good news ahead!

August 1st is here, and that means the Common App is officially LIVE!
Application season is in full swing, and with it comes lots of changes in the world of college admissions:

- University of Michigan now offers an Early Decision (ED) option for the first time.
- Kelley School of Business at Indiana University has updated its review process - no longer based on a GPA/test score threshold. Students will now be holistically reviewed and must complete the Kelley Prospect Inventory (KPI) for admission.
- The Ohio State University now requires test scores.
- University of Arizona has added supplemental essays to their application.
- …and many more schools have made updates!

Be sure to read every section of your applications carefully and allow plenty of time to thoughtfully complete all supplemental essays and questions. Good luck, seniors! This is your time to shine. Stay focused and stay organized!

Rising Seniors Applying to UGA.....
UGA has officially confirmed that their supplemental essay will remain the same for this application cycle—one of the few schools to confirm so far. That means you can get a head start!

Here’s the prompt:
“The transition from middle to high school is a key time for students as they reach new levels of both academic and personal discovery. Please share a book (novel, non-fiction, etc.) that had a serious impact on you during this time. Please focus more on why this book made an impact on you and less on the plot/theme of the book itself (we are not looking for a book report).”

Fourth Stop: Georgetown!

Our college tour took us to Georgetown University, and we absolutely loved it. Walking through the main gates on a perfect spring day, we were greeted by a lively, welcoming campus set in the heart of the historic Georgetown neighborhood, just two miles from D.C. With its Jesuit values, global focus, and close-knit community, this is a place where students are encouraged to think beyond themselves and make a real impact on the world.
With five distinct undergraduate schools—including the College of Arts & Sciences, McDonough School of Business, Walsh School of Foreign Service, School of Health, and College of Nursing—students have the opportunity to shape their education around their passions.
Beyond academics, campus life is vibrant and full of tradition. Whether it’s cheering on one of 31 Division I sports teams, relaxing in the many green spaces, or exploring Red Square’s Wednesday Farmers Market, there’s always something happening. We couldn’t resist treating ourselves to a delicious crepe from one of the local vendors—highly recommend!
And a word of advice? Don’t step on the University Seal! Legend has it that prospective students won’t get in, and current students won’t graduate. Consider yourself warned!
From the history of Healy Hall to the charming streets of Georgetown and the unmatched opportunities of D.C., it’s easy to see why Georgetown is so sought after.

Next stop: GW

Had an amazing visit to George Washington University! GW truly offers the best of both worlds—an urban campus in the heart of Washington, D.C., just three blocks from the White House, and a more traditional residential experience on Mount Vernon Campus (a quick shuttle ride away).
Why GW Stands Out:✔️ Smaller class sizes ✔️ Unparalleled internship opportunities—gain real-world experience during the semester!✔️ Limitless research possibilities—professors are active in their fields.✔️ Flexible academics—changing majors is easy!✔️ Two campus options:
* Foggy Bottom: In the middle of the action, with access to all things D.C.
* Mount Vernon: A more residential setting where 1/3 of first-years live, home to writing courses and the Honors Program housing.

GW offers students the chance to learn inside and outside the classroom in one of the most vibrant cities in the world! If you’re looking for an exciting, hands-on college experience, this could be the place for you.

What if you could have the best of both worlds—the beauty of a traditional college campus and the energy of a major city? At American University, students get exactly that: a green, walkable campus nestled in Washington, D.C., one of the most dynamic and opportunity-filled cities in the world.

AU is built on a legacy of service and a strong belief in learning by doing. With DC’s thriving culture of hiring interns, students gain hands-on experience through internships, research, and service-learning courses (which even include service hours as part of the class!). 60% of students study abroad, and AU has its own centers overseas for a truly global education.

A few standout features:
✅ Academic Flexibility – Students apply to AU as a whole, not a specific school, and can easily switch between majors. You don’t have to declare a major until the end of sophomore year!
✅ Undergraduate Research – As an R1 research institution, AU offers incredible opportunities for undergrads to participate in meaningful research.
✅ Accelerated Degrees – AU offers 3-year bachelor’s programs and the option to earn a bachelor’s + master’s in just 5 years (no GRE required!).
✅ Internships, Internships, Internships – DC is a city that runs on interns, and AU students are right in the mix!
✅ Community Focus – From service-learning courses to a commitment to sustainability (AU was the first carbon-neutral university in the U.S.), Eagles are known for making an impact.

The most popular majors?
1️⃣ International Studies
2️⃣ Political Science
3️⃣ Business Administration
4️⃣ CLEG (Communications, Legal Institutions, Economics & Government)
5️⃣ Justice and Law

With D1 athletics, small class sizes (most are under 50 students), merit scholarships automatically considered with admission, and a president who casually grabs coffee with students, AU offers a tight-knit community with world-class opportunities.
