Families of students with disabilities had an opportunity to weigh in on the LA Time’s coverage of the LAUSD strike story voicing their support for the teachers, aides and other crucial district personnel.

Our parent leaderTania Rivera said it best:
“We support the teachers, and we have similar concerns. We need more aides at school. But the impact for our kids is big. Families need to be part of this conversation.”

The strike was averted. Schools are open. But the question our families have been asking all along still stands: when do we get a seat at the table?

Curious to hear how folks are feeling. Are folks worried about how they’ll manage if school closes?

Our community centered IEP survey was created by families for families to document our experiences navigating special education and advocating for our children. It is 100% anonymous and takes 15 minutes to complete. With the results, we will publish a data report to raise awareness and to invite school districts to improve their practices. We will also be creating a family centered IEP toolkit that we will share widely.

¡Nuestra encuesta finaliza este fin de semana! Nuestra voz = nuestros datos = cambio real.
