Today, on International Day of the Girl, we celebrate girls everywhere—but in my world, every day is Day of the Girl. As someone who has dedicated my career to uplifting, empowering, and advocating for girls since I was a teen myself, I know firsthand the incredible power they hold to shape our future.

The students in this photo are from my first internship at the Children's Defense Fund Freedom School at Benning Elementary in Washington, D.C., where I had the privilege of teaching amazing students (Fun fact: I have a long history of teaching and mentoring boys, too! 👩🏽‍🏫).

That life-changing experience taught me the power of empowering young minds and the importance of investing in their futures. Even though many of my former students and mentees now have children of their own, each one still holds an unforgettable place in my heart.

On this Day of the Girl, I celebrate:

👸🏾Their compassion, leadership, and potential to change the world

💪The strength and resilience of girls who overcome obstacles every day, despite facing enormous challenges and societal pressures

To all of the girls out there:

Keep speaking up and challenging the systems that try to hold you back. You are powerful, resilient, and full of potential to make real, lasting change. Your voices matter, your dreams matter, and the world needs your vision, talent, and leadership now more than ever.

Throwing it back to my teenage tumbling days! Gymnastics and cheerleading were my favorite sports growing up, and I’ll never forget the amazing feeling of freedom while flying through the air. My inner girl is absolutely mesmerized and thrilled about Simone Biles’ incomparable talent and achievements!! 🤩

Although I only took gymnastics lessons casually when I was a little girl and again in high school when I took tumbling classes, I wonder how far I might have gone with more dedicated training. Now, I’m living vicariously through Simone’s incredible journey and I am in awe! 😍 I wish I could have been at the Olympics this year to see Simone and Team USA in action—she is truly the GOAT!! 🐐🙌🏾

I couldn’t find my treasured backwards tumbling pics I was looking for, but I’ll never forget how excited I was when I nailed an aerial on my first try, despite my coach’s prediction of needing at least 100 attempts before I could do it hands-free. I had a feeling that I could do it, so I just went for it in the middle of him explaining how to do it and his jaw dropped! Lol 😅 This vivid memory reminds me that sometimes, you have to go for it and trust your intuition even if others underestimate you or aren’t sure if you’ll succeed at your goals.

Simone Biles is the ultimate example of pushing through doubts and challenges, proving that with determination, unapologetic self-care, and belief in yourself, you can achieve greatness despite the haters and naysayers. I hope her incredible strength and resilience inspire you to believe in your own abilities and keep pushing towards your dreams—no matter what people or challenges stand in your way!

I’m excited to share that I recently started enrolling an exciting group of speakers and coaches with a passion for empowering girls in my new A Heart for Girls™ Money Breakthrough Accelerator (MBA) Summer Intensive. 🙌🏾 This is the first business coaching group I’ve offered in five years, and until now, I’ve only shared this rare opportunity to be personally mentored by me with a small group of clients and women on my VIP waiting list.

In 2014, I founded my pioneering flagship program, the A Heart for Girls™ Business Academy after many years of being bombarded by countless women from around the world who also wanted to share my work with girls in their communities and learn how to monetize their work, help more girls, and make a positive difference through speaking and/or coaching (some of my clients have other types of businesses that serve youth and girls).
