After a stellar showing at the 2024 Texas Teach Tomorrow Summit in Roundrock, Angleton High School’s TAFE chapter sent 4 competitors to the Educators Rising National Conference in Washington DC this past weekend. It was their largest gathering to date with a record breaking 3300 plus attendees and over 1000 student competitors!
What a thrill to be in a room with these future leaders and role models. If I had any concerns about the future of public education, this was a reassuring breath of fresh air that the problems won’t lie with the educators themselves. Even the convention center staff mentioned to me that of all the youth conferences they’ve hosted, these kids of Educators Rising were the most polite, well mannered and respectful that they’ve experienced.
What a privilege it was to attend…and, as a bonus——-
ALL 4 Wildcat Future Educators finished Top 5 in the Nation!!!
Huge Congratulations to:
Kaleigha Domain-Exploring Educational Administration Careers
Jordan McDonald-Creative Lecture
Melina Smith-Lesson Planning and Delivery CTE
Jasmine Roman-Lesson Planning and Delivery-Spanish
Beyond proud to be their Teacher Leader!

Angleton High School TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators) competed at the 2024 Texas Teach Tomorrow Summit in Round Rock this weekend. Texas has the largest organization of its kind in the world, and our conference continues to grow. This year, there were 2148 competitive event entries. Less than 10% score high enough to qualify for the Educators Rising National Conference this summer in Washington, DC. A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the following Wildcats:
Jordan McDonald for Creative Lecture
Melina Smith for Lesson Planning and Delivery CTE
Kaleigha Domain for Exploring Education Careers: Administration
Jasmine Roman for Lesson Planning and Delivery Spanish

Nationals Spotlight! Jaide Hernandez. Jaide worked all year with her partner, Katherine, on a bilingual interactive bulletin board for Kindergarten students. Building and presenting together, they continued scoring high and impressing judges. A few days before Nationals, Katherine informed us that ,due to a family emergency, she would be unable to attend. Jaide, naturally shy and reluctant to speak, stepped up to compete individually for the first time. Shout out to her incredible judges who spoke with her in Spanish and ASL and helped her take calming breaths when needed. The pic of she and I was taken by one of those judges who praised her bravery and encouraged her to keep up the good work! We are so proud of you, Jaide! Way to go!!

Nationals spotlight! Mashona Davis. Mashona was our only Varsity competitor to qualify for Nationals, and although she didn't place in the top 10, we are so proud of her poise, professionalism, creativity, and preparation. I am so thankful to be her teacher and am excited to see what her future holds.
