As we close out our Teacher Appreciation Series, I had the opportunity to sit down with Mariam, a special educator, for an honest conversation about something so many educators—and professionals—quietly navigate…

**Imposter syndrome.**

The questioning.
The overthinking.
The pressure to show up for everyone while wondering if you’re doing enough.

In this conversation, Mariam shares her perspective as an educator, advocate, and woman committed to showing up—even on the hard days.

To every teacher, educator, school professional, and helper… thank you for the work you do, both seen and unseen.

What’s one way you’ve worked through self-doubt in your professional journey?👇🏾

Thank you to Dr. Toyen Montgomery for gracing Blackmomsociety with her affirmation and how she intends to be appreciated as an educator.

For our educators...
We see you
We appreciate you.
We are grateful for you more than words can say.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

To the teachers… the encouragers… the safe spaces… the ones who see potential before it fully blooms, thank you. 🍎✨

This week, we honor the educators who pour into our children with patience, wisdom, structure, and heart.

As mothers, we know the power of having people in our children’s lives who truly see them.

To every teacher showing up, adapting, advocating, nurturing, and leading, this is for you.

We see you.
We appreciate you.
We thank you. 🤎

You are not behind.
You are not failing.
You are a mom who is still standing.
And that is enough.
Save this for the moment you need to hear it most.
Because some days motherhood is heavy and you need a reminder that you are doing better than you think. Grace over perfection. Always.

No one told us this about motherhood and mental health...

Mental health awareness for Black moms isn’t just therapy. It is:
1. Learning to rest
2. Learning to say no
3. Learning to stop carrying everything alone
4. Learning to listen to what your body needs...

This is what I wish I knew sooner....

April is Autism Awareness Month 💙💛 ♥️
And for many parents, this journey isn’t just about awareness, it’s about advocacy, exhaustion, resilience, and learning systems that weren’t built with us in mind.

In this fireside chat with Rochelle Allen, we talked about what it really looks like to navigate special needs as a parent and being strong is not a wellness plan.

This is not a wish list. This is what every Black mother is owed. 🤎
✅ Culturally competent care and providers who look like us and understand us ✅ Our voices heard and respected — not dismissed ✅ Safe, supportive, and equitable maternity care ✅ Systems that protect and prioritize Black, Brown, and ALL moms
Change is possible. But it requires advocacy, awareness, and action — from all of us.
💬 What does "better care" look like to you? Tell us in the comments. 👇🏾
