Shontrice has over a decade of experience in education with a focus on literacy and special education instruction. She makes it her business to assess and provides scientific-based reading instruction to improve tutees’phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, accuracy and comprehension skills= GROWTH. Its the time of year when report cards are going home and parent- teacher conferences are quickly approaching.

Below is a list of questions that parents should ask their child’s teacher/s with their child PRESENT: (child’s name)

🍎What behaviors are you noticing inside and outside of the classroom?
🍎What are the trends in the data across the grade-level?
🍎Do you participate in daily lessons for SEL- Social Emotional Learning?
🍎 How can we work better together to ensure mastery of content?
🍎 Next steps for all stakeholders: Parent, Teacher, and the Student.

Once you gather this data, create a game plan with your child. Most of the time getting a tutor helps with consistency and expertise in the content area at hand.

I pride myself on providing multiple ways to engage in content. Then the ownership of learning goes back on the student. I ask students, “What strategy works best for you ?”
