Bikers Across The Nation is honoring Black History Month all month long. We recognize the Black riders and community members who have helped shape our history and motorcycle culture. History matters. Humanity matters. Much respect to those who came before us and those riding today.

Riding isn’t just throttle and chrome. It’s education, humility, and knowing that the road doesn’t forgive ego. Every mile teaches you something if you’re paying attention. Being a better rider isn’t about how long you’ve been on two wheels. It’s about how willing you are to keep learning, adapting, and respecting the machine, the conditions, and the people around you. Skill saves lives. Knowledge keeps families whole. Pride never replaces preparation.

Education matters because riding conditions change, bodies change, and traffic sure as hell keeps getting worse. Braking techniques evolve. Defensive riding becomes more important every year. Group riding takes discipline, communication, and accountability to everyone behind you. Even seasoned riders benefit from refreshers. Especially seasoned riders. There is no shame in sharpening your edge. There is responsibility in it.

If you’re serious about becoming a better rider, these resources matter:

• Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). Their Basic and Advanced RiderCourses are gold for fundamentals, emergency maneuvers, and correcting bad habits before they cost you skin or steel.
• Total Control Advanced Riding Clinics. Focused on traction, braking, and real-world control at speed, built for experienced riders who want precision, not just confidence. (many different types of these clinics around the USA)
• Police motor officer training videos and clinics. These riders train for slow-speed control and technical handling that most civilians never practice enough. (check with your local police office for clinics)
• Books like Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough. Old school wisdom that still saves lives because physics hasn’t changed.
https://a.co/d/fCiMgnk
• Local rider groups that prioritize safety over showing off. If a group pressures you to ride beyond your limits, that’s not brotherhood, that’s liability. (Need facebook groups that you can research for great communities - Message us)

Gear is part of education too. Wear what protects you, not what looks cool on a highlight reel. Helmets that fit. Gloves that grip. Boots that support. Road rash and broken bones don’t care how tough you are.

Being a better rider isn’t about fear. It’s about respect. Respect for the road. Respect for your family waiting for you. Respect for the machine between your legs. We ride free, but freedom comes with discipline. Learn. Practice. Ride smart. Make it home.

Bikers Across The Nation is a registered 501(c)(3) humanitarian nonprofit, which means every donation is tax deductible and you will receive a donation receipt you can use for your 2026 taxes.
We serve people and families across the United States by uniting bikers and non-bikers through compassion, service, and shared humanity. Since 2021, we have built a grassroots network where people can come with any situation, great or small, whether it involves hardship, growth, rebuilding, or simply needing support and connection. We stand on the human front, listening, helping, and working alongside people to find real paths forward.
People bring us their situations, ideas, and hopes. We help connect them to financial support, bartering networks, community partners, and project-based solutions that move them forward. This is a living humanitarian network built on dignity, respect, and action.
We are currently working to raise $30,000 over the next three months to keep this work alive and growing. This funding allows us to:
• Support individuals, organizations, and families
• Respond to biker and non-biker situations
• Run humanitarian projects like Bikers Are Human
• Partner with libraries, organizations, clubs, communities, and universities
• Travel to reach people where help is needed
• Maintain insurance, outreach, and nonprofit operations
