Warwick parents,
Per PPRA, Schools must get parental consent in order for ANY student to take the RISS due to asking questions within the 8 protected categories! Just allowing an opt out is not in accordance to the this law which the superindent is well aware of. The same is stated in guidance for schools as it relates to the PPRA and surveys.
“Consent before students are required to submit to a survey that concerns one or more of the
following eight protected areas (protected information survey) if the survey is funded as part of a
program administered by the U.S. Department of Education (Department) (applicable program)
1. Political affiliations or beliefs of the student or student’s parent;
2. Mental or psychological problems of the student or student’s family;
3. S*x behavior or attitudes;
4. Illegal, anti-social, self-incriminating, or demeaning behavior;
5. Critical appraisals of others with whom respondents have close family relationships;
6. Legally recognized privileged or analogous relationships, such as with lawyers, doctors, or
ministers;
7. Religious practices, affiliations, or beliefs of the student or student’s parent; or
8. Income, other than as required by law to determine program eligibility.
Parents have to either say yes or no or student cannot take the survey. If the survey did not ask a question within the 8 categories then the district can offer opt out and still proceed with survey.

PARENTS, you are on this page for a reason and the time is now to be aware of the trend in public education.
I invite you to something that I think you might be interested in.
A friend runs a group called The forgotten Taxpayers and we are having a speaker series fundraiser on Friday, September 22 that I was hoping that you could attend.
The event is featuring Nicole Solas who is a local mother who received national media attention recently when she questioned what her daughter would be learning in public school.
Considering that about 80 cents of every dollar of our property taxes support the public school budget, I'm inviting you to this event to learn more about the agenda being pushed in the public school system.
Standing on the sidelines is no longer an option for us as what has been happening in public schools as a trend is quite alarming. And remember our tax dollars are paying for this.
If you are interested please purchase your ticket and register for the event on our website which is www.forgottentaxpayers.com because tickets are limited.
Forgotten Taxpayers

Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee announced last May that public school districts could apply for up to $500,000 in emergency approval for school safety repairs and upgrades following a deadly mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, but records obtained by the I-Team show a majority of schools did NOT take advantage of it! DO THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN?!
NBC 10 I-Team: Majority of Rhode Island schools did not apply for state security funds
The NBC 10 I-Team looks into why relatively few Rhode Island school districts took advantage of funding available for security upgrades.
