Wildfire Rub - Fire-Powered Topical Salve for Relief, Inflammation, Warming Comfort, Circulatory Support - Only at WoodlandHerbal.com

When the chill settles deep or old aches whisper their painful reminders, a spark of Wildfire can bring warm relief rushing back. This handcrafted herbal rub blends Nature’s most stimulating botanicals—Cayenne, Ginger, Turmeric, and Arnica—into a silky base of olive oil, coconut, and shea butter. The sensation is instant: a steady, penetrating heat that doesn’t burn or sear the skin, but invites the body’s natural rhythm to awaken and flow again, while relieving pain and inflammation. Wildfire Rub was designed with those in mind who deal with inflammation, circulatory issues, gout, and chronic long time injuries, as well as for those who are frequently cold, fatigued or of weak constitution.

Each jar is infused with time-honored plant allies known for promoting comfort and vitality in tired, overworked areas. As the fiery herbs work their way deep beneath the skin, the gentle warmth spreads through muscles and joints, easing the tension that cold and stagnation can bring. The aroma is grounding and resinous—soothing Frankincense and crisp Pine Needle rising with notes of spicy Clove and smoky Birch Tar—an invigorating scent that feels like you’re standing beside a woodland fire on a frosty morning.

Use Wildfire Rub as a daily companion for movement, relief and recovery. Massage a small amount into the desired area and feel the glow begin—reviving circulation, soothing discomfort, restoring vitality, and reminding the body of its own inner heat. Crafted with care by our family of herbalists, this is warmth as medicine once was: from the earth, through the hands, and into the heart.

A Letter We Hoped We’d Never Have to Write — Part III

A few weeks ago, we opened our hearts and told you something that was very difficult for our family to admit: Woodland Herbal was struggling, sales had fallen more than 80% on average from where they had been in the spring—with some days falling as much as 94%—and we were approaching the point where some very hard decisions would have to be made.

What happened afterward is something we will never forget.

You came back. You ordered remedies you had been meaning to replenish, shared our story with friends and family, wrote reviews, told people about products that had helped you, and sought us out simply to tell us that Woodland Herbal mattered to you. Some of the messages we received during those weeks came on days when we needed those words more than the people writing them could possibly have known.

Then, when we told you that the difficult work of simplifying Woodland Herbal had begun, you showed up again. Tension Tea, our first retiring recipe, sold out quickly, and for about a week orders returned to a level that gave us some much-needed breathing room.
Taken together, your response to these letters has bought Woodland Herbal approximately another month.

I don't use those words lightly. Another month means another month of herbs arriving, remedies being made, bills being paid, and our family having the time to make careful decisions about what comes next instead of making sweeping cuts from a place of desperation. You gave us time, and you gave us hope. We will be forever grateful for both.

As we expected, however, sales have slowed considerably again. We knew from the beginning that a few strong weeks would not erase what had been happening over the previous several months, and we knew the process of making Woodland Herbal sustainable again would require more than one difficult decision.

So today, we're making the largest change yet.

We are retiring the 16 oz size of every Woodland Herbal tincture.

Our tinctures themselves are not going away. They are among the most important remedies we make and will remain at the heart of our apothecary.

But the 16 oz bottles will not continue.

These large bottles require significant amounts of herbs, alcohol, packaging, storage space and resources to keep available across our entire tincture collection. As we simplify Woodland Herbal and concentrate what we have on the sizes and remedies people purchase most consistently, we can no longer responsibly maintain them.

There is something particularly bittersweet about saying goodbye to the 16 oz bottles because these were never really our "try it and see" size. They were purchased by people who had already found something they trusted—people who knew a remedy well enough to bring home the largest bottle we made and return to it again and again.

Before that chapter closes, we want to give those customers one final opportunity to stock their cupboards—and at the same time, give Woodland Herbal another meaningful push forward.

All remaining 16 oz tinctures are now 40% OFF.

There are only 2–12 bottles remaining of each tincture, depending on which recipe.

We will not be producing another run of this size. When a particular 16 oz tincture sells out, that is the end of it. If there is a Woodland Herbal tincture you use regularly, this is the lowest price we plan to offer on these remaining bottles and the last opportunity to purchase it in the 16 oz size. And this particular retirement can help us in a very practical way.

These bottles represent herbs, ingredients and resources we've already invested in. Turning that remaining inventory into sales now gives us funds we can put back into the core remedies and ingredients that will carry Woodland Herbal forward. You receive an unusually good value on something your household genuinely uses, and we gain resources to continue the work of rebuilding and simplifying this little apothecary.

If you've been wondering how you could help us while also receiving something meaningful in return, this is one of the most helpful opportunities we can offer.

Two more goodbyes are beginning, too.

Chill Out Tea will be retiring from our tea collection, following Tension Tea, with remaining supplies offered at 20% off discount. We will make what we reasonably can from the ingredients remaining for this recipe, and once those tins are gone, there are no plans for it to return.

We will also be retiring our collection of Aromatherapy Room Sprays. The bottles currently remaining will be our last, offered at a 20% off discount.

These decisions aren't being made because we suddenly stopped believing in these products. They're being made because preserving Woodland Herbal now requires us to distinguish between everything we could continue making and what we can responsibly continue supporting.

That distinction is becoming clearer with every decision.

For many years, growth meant adding. A new formula, another size, another way to use the plants we love. We were fortunate enough to build an apothecary filled with things we were proud to make.

This season is teaching us something different.

Sometimes protecting something means being willing to make it smaller.

We don't yet know exactly what Woodland Herbal will look like when we reach the other side of this. I think it's important to be honest about that. We're learning as we go—watching what people return for, listening to what you tell us matters most, simplifying production, reducing waste, carefully refining some recipes, and making decisions one at a time rather than cutting deeply simply for the sake of cutting.

What we do know is that we want the Woodland Herbal that remains to be strong enough to stay.

And that is where you continue to have a tremendous influence.

If you regularly use one of our 16 oz tinctures, this is the time to stock up. With only 2–12 bottles of each recipe remaining, some will almost certainly disappear much faster than others.

But if you don't need anything from us right now, please don't purchase something simply because you feel obligated. There is another kind of help we desperately need: help us find the people who haven't discovered us yet.

Share this letter. Send our website to the friend who has been looking for an herbalist. Tell someone about a Woodland Herbal remedy that has genuinely served you. Leave a review. Share one of our posts. If our family apothecary is something you believe is worth keeping in the world, help another person understand why.

Those introductions matter because what Woodland Herbal ultimately needs isn't an endless series of extraordinary rescue weeks. We need more people who discover us, find something they trust, and remember to return when they need it again.

That is how this becomes sustainable.

For more than ten generations, the knowledge behind this work has survived because someone cared enough to carry it forward. Our generation has had the privilege of placing that knowledge into more than 135,000 remedies and sending them into homes across the country.

Right now, we're learning what it will take to carry it through this season too.

We are still here. We are still making remedies. We are still teaching, growing, learning and doing everything we reasonably can to protect the heart of Woodland Herbal.

And because of you, we've had more time to do it thoughtfully.

Thank you for continuing to walk through this with us. There are more decisions ahead, and we'll keep sharing them honestly as they come. But tonight, we are taking the next one.

With all our gratitude,
Brandon Elijah Scott& the Woodland Herbal family

P.S. A note about 16 oz tincture orders: We have only 2–12 bottles remaining of each recipe. If this retirement receives a particularly strong response, some orders may take us a little longer than usual to prepare and fulfill. Everything is still handled here by real human hands, and we appreciate your patience while we work through them carefully.

Our beautiful Sleep & Serenity Care Package is a quartet of natural plant-based remedies made up of organic plants from all around the world known for aiding the body and mind. This sleepy collection of salve, tea, tincture and aromatherapy inhaler come together to make up our best natural approach to a range of ailments like sleeplessness, anxiety, stress, tension and insomnia, and when used in together can become a powerful sleep aid. This care package was formulated by our family of four generations of Herbalists.‡

To ease the reeling mind or to calm anxiety and nervousness, rub a dollop of our Dream Balm onto temples and wrists, or if tension headaches are ailing you, rub some around your neck and skull as well. When dealing with sleeplessness or middle night insomnia, apply some to the bottom of the feet for fastest absorption. We start our Dream Balm with organic French Lavender, German Chamomile, Passionflower and Mugwort in Olive oil and melt in raw organic beeswax, and finish with a potent mixture of essential oils and plant extracts. We always focus on medicinal strength, so a little goes a long way.‡

For ultimate relaxation drink a cup of our organic Sweet Dreams tea 30-minutes before bed, which is a blend of potent calming and sedating herbs like French Lavender, German Chamomile, Lemongrass, Lemon Balm and Passionflower. This tea can make you sleepy, but small cups can be enjoyed when anxiety mounts. Although, when anxiety becomes too difficult to deal with, place a few drops of our Peaceful Slumber Tincture in a beverage or under tongue for fastest response. This potent tincture is a blend of some of the most powerful herbs for promoting relaxation, providing sedation, soothing nerves, easing tension and calming anxiety, while also aiding the body and mind in its ability to adapt to the effect stress has on the body. You only need to start with a few drops under the tongue.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: KEYNOTE SPEAKER — NATHAN WRIGHT(GETEGE’NINI)

We are deeply honored to welcome Nathan Wright (Getege’nini) as a keynote speaker at Lost Skills Gathering on October 3 at Clary Gardens in Coshocton, Ohio.

Nathan is an Anishinabek (Ojibwe) educator, mycologist, community herbalist, regenerative farmer, water protector, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and founder of Herbal Lodge, an Indigenous-owned botanical company in northern Michigan. A citizen of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, his work carries traditional ecological knowledge into conversation with herbalism, regenerative agriculture, and the challenges of modern life.

His keynote will take place at 4:15 PM on Oct 3:

THE LAND REMEMBERS
What Are We Missing When We Stop Listening?

Drawing from Indigenous teachings, traditional Anishinaabek stories, a lifetime spent on the land, and his own encounters with the living world, Nathan will explore connection, reciprocity, spirituality, belonging, and responsibility.

At the heart of his talk is a simple challenge:

Become a student of Mother Nature.

The forest teaches patience. Plants teach adaptation. Seasons teach that change is necessary. Animals teach awareness, resilience, cooperation, and when to act—or remain still.

But what happens when we become too distracted to notice?

What might we learn if we listened more closely?

Nathan’s keynote is an invitation to reconsider our relationship with the places we call home—not as resources separate from us, but as living communities to which we belong.

This is more than a talk about nature.

It is an invitation to listen, learn, and allow the living world to teach us how to live.

🌿 THIS SUNDAY: YOUR HORMONES ARE ABOUT SO MUCH MORE THAN REPRODUCTION.

Hormones influence your energy. Your sleep. Your mood. Your metabolism. Your libido. Your ability to handle stress. The changes that come with puberty, pregnancy, menopause, aging—and the shifts men experience through midlife, too.

Yet most of us go through our entire lives without ever really being taught how this remarkable system works.

We’re changing that... Sacred Seasons of the Body: Hormones & Reproductive Health is a deep dive into the endocrine and reproductive systems through the lens of practical, traditional herbalism.

🌿 We’ll explore herbs for menstrual and cycle support
🌿 Fertility, pregnancy & reproductive wellness
🌿 Perimenopause & menopause
🌿 Male hormones, prostate health & midlife changes
🌿 Stress, exhaustion & low vitality
🌿 Mood, sleep, libido, metabolism & energy
🌿 Nourishing foods and everyday practices that support the body
🌿 Gentle medicinal plants traditionally used to help us navigate these different seasons of life

And you absolutely do NOT need to be an herbalist to come.

This is for the woman who wants to understand what her body is doing instead of feeling bewildered by it.

It’s for the man who has noticed his energy, sleep, vitality or body changing with age and wants to better understand why.

It’s for parents, partners, caregivers, plant people—and anyone who simply wants a more grounded understanding of the human body and the gentle ways medicinal plants can support it.

We’ll take subjects that can feel complicated, clinical or even taboo and bring them back down to earth: sitting together, asking questions openly, learning the plants, and understanding the body with a little more compassion.

📅 Sunday, August 30 at 2:00 PM
📍 Clary Gardens, Coshocton, Ohio
🎟 $50 | Approximately 2–3 hours

This class only comes around once a year. If hormones, reproductive wellness, menopause, prostate health, vitality—or simply understanding your own body better—have been calling for your attention, come spend Sunday afternoon with us.
