The Kennedy Family is pleased to announce our 2026 John D. Gillen Golden Eagle Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, The Honorable James Fredericka ’71. He will serve as the Commencement Speaker for the Class of 2026 on Saturday, May 23 at 9 a.m. at Robins Theatre.

His academic achievements include membership in the Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Epsilon honor societies. He earned his Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University in 1978 and was admitted to the Ohio State Bar that same year.

Throughout his career, Judge Fredericka has served the public in multiple capacities. He began as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Trumbull County from 1978 to 1984 before spending 37 years in private practice with the firms Ambrosy and Fredericka, and Richards, Ambrosy and Fredericka. He has shared his expertise as a guest speaker for the National College of Probate Judges and the Ohio Association of Probate Judges and has been a member of the non-regular teaching staff at the University of Notre Dame.

His professional excellence is reflected in his AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and his inclusion in the top one percent of the American Registry’s America’s Most Honored Lawyers. In 2016, he was named Public Official of the Year by the National Association of Social Workers Ohio Chapter-Region IV. The Courage, Integrity and Dedication Award was established in 2020 to honor a Kennedy graduate who has made a significant impact on JFK by the work and time they give to us. Our 2025-2026 recipient truly embodies the idea of "Love Your School." Jim Fogarty '94 has been a tireless advocate of John F. Kennedy as an alumni, parent, and friend. Professionally he has used his time and talent to promote and educate our community about the benefit of a Kennedy education. He has spoken to numerous classes about his professional career path and you have seen him on stage as the brilliant host of school events like Bingo and the "Just For Kicks" Live & Silent Benefit Auction. He was a quiet but integral part of the success of our online auctions during the COVID era and he and his family are fixtures at school all school events. It is our honor to celebrate his commitment to JFK. Please take a moment to read more about this year's recipient.

Jim is a 1994 graduate of JFK where he was a three-year varsity letterman and MVP in boys soccer, a 1998 graduate of Bowling Green State University in Film, and a 2007 graduate of UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television in Screenwriting.

In 2001, he founded 2 Ticks & The Dog Productions, Inc. which is currently located in downtown Warren, and has won numerous awards for writing, directing, producing and cinematography for his work in television commercial production, both narrative and documentary short and feature-length filmmaking, advertising campaigns and political media consulting. His career has taken him coast to coast from New York City to Los Angeles and everywhere in between across the United States working alongside a diverse and long list of clients and organizations including Time Warner Cable, The U.S. Department of Transportation, The John F. Kennedy Center for The Arts, Covelli Enterprises, AVI Food Systems, The Democratic National Committee, and hundreds of small and medium sized businesses across the country.

As an educator, he has taught at both the high school and professional levels, and lectured at various colleges, universities, and film festivals. Jim co-starred in the 2024 faith-based feature film “The Abiding Nail”, winner of eleven film festival awards which was acquired for distribution and released internationally and he's currently in pre-production as both an actor and producer of another faith-based feature film to be shot this summer titled "Sunny Sixteen." Jim is happily married to his wife of sixteen years, Renee Bastounis. They chose J.F.K. for their thirteen year old son, Jimi, a third generation Eagle.

It's our Year in Review and what a year we've had!

A 3-Peat Boys Golf State Championship, a Cheer Team State Runner-Up, three District Championships, two theatre productions, countless hours of faith, education, service, and community as well as reunions, the "Just For Kicks" Auction, Not Your Grandma's Bingo, a trip to Europe and so much more! The Class of 2025 earned over $10.7 million in collegiate scholarships and awards and this year we are proud to have implemented many aspects of our strategic plan; Today. Tomorrow. Together. Looking ahead, the future is bright with growing enrollment, innovative programming, lots of special events, and so much more.

Thank you to everyone who made these memories possible. We hope you enjoy reliving these moments as much as we did.
