I hope you are having a nice weekend! What fun activities do you have going on today?

My family is making pasta 🍝, and it made me think of what a great speech-language activity it is to share with you! My kiddo is 15 months, so this activity is about exposure to kitchen utensils and exploration of the materials/ ingredients being used. This activity can target vocabulary, describing words, similarities/differences, and sequencing skills (first, second, next, last). You can ask WH questions to check for comprehension. For children working on fluency, you can ask them to explain the steps using smooth, easy speech. For children using AAC devices, you can focus on practicing one word or short phrases (mix, more, my turn, your turn). For articulation, have your child think about the words that have their targested sound and practice saying them 5-10x each.

Message us or comment on this post if you would like ideas on how to practice your child’s speech-language goals in your everyday life or with a specific activity! 🙂
