Wamego High School Peer Chamber

WCF has created ‘Young Philanthropists,’ a group of active Wamego High School Peer Chamber students (about 20 this year) that will receive a voucher for giving on Match Day. They are encouraged to research our match day site, each organization, and their projects. The intent is to take this already community-focused group and educate them on the Foundation, nonprofits in their community, and what it means to become a philanthropist.

They held their October meeting on Match Day, walked down from the high school at @7:15, and grabbed a coffee & donuts with us at Iron Clad. Aimee meets with them briefly to discuss Match Day and answer their questions. They were given a voucher ($200 this year) and a colored donation form. They were then released to speak with our nonprofits, discussing their volunteer opportunities, what they are raising money for specifically this year, what they do as an organization, etc.

The hope is that these students can research where their donations go, receive a thank you card from each organization, and then witness their donations in action as funds are spent in our community.

This program is sponsored by the Bank of the Flint Hills and the Edna Mae Peddicord Charitable Trust. Thank you for investing in the future of Wamego!

Many of our Peer Chamber members serve as Student Guardians for the Kansas Honor Flights- Wamego High School missions each year. Others are National Honor Society members who serve on the Honor Flight Homecoming Committee. We are so proud of these students who exhibit respect, responsibility, leadership and represent Wamego High School in such an honorable manner. Please wish them well as this year's Honor Flight prepares for its April 27-28 mission! ⭐️🇺🇸

The Wamego Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals invited our group to a Lunch & Learn part 2 session with speaker Stacey Lhuillier, an instructor in the College of Business at K-State and at Highland Community College in Wamego. Stacey continued her talk with thoughts on saving for the future and once again shared excellent information with those in attendance!

The Wamego Area Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals are providing another FREE LUNCH and great program for our members on April 14 at Iron Clad Coworking! Speaker Stacey Lhuillier, an instructor in the College of Business at K-State and Highland Community College, will continue her talk about finances with our group.
