The latest homeschool numbers are in!
The North Carolina Division of Non-Public Education (DNPE) has released updated homeschool statistics for the 2025–26 school year, and there are now 95,190 registered homeschools across our state.
You may notice that the statewide total is lower than last year. This is not because homeschooling is declining. DNPE recently completed a major cleanup of its records by removing homeschool registrations that had become inactive over the years but were never officially closed. The result is a more accurate count of active homeschools in North Carolina.
This map shows the total number of homeschools in each North Carolina county, giving us a snapshot of where homeschooling families are making an impact in communities from the mountains to the coast.
We're grateful to be part of such a strong and growing homeschool community and remain committed to helping parents homeschool with confidence and joy.
